Fluid changes

transmission fluid, transfer case fluid and front/rear axle fluids. When are you guys changing them? Manual for my 2016 states 100000-150000 miles. And not to change them unless you suspect there’s an issue

Long life fluid is supposed to go to 150k, but it's not usually a good idea to run it that long. Especially if you tow, or do anything that would be considered severe duty. Around 75-85k would be a safer bet. Like engine oil cleaner is better. Dirty or burnt fluid, is what kills the transmission.

Seems that the manual's recommendations are a bit optimistic. And leave room for interpretation too.

Here was what I did at 50K miles based on reading comments from various sources and the observations:

Tranny fluid - was ready for the change. The vehicle does tow a bit.

X-fer case - was nearly ready.

Front differential - could have gone much further.

Rear differential - was nearly ready.

Yeah I do zero towing, just run 2WD unless I wanna blow the doors off a guy in an unsuspecting vehicle that thinks my 6300lb cinder block is slower than be he is lol

Brake fluid got done early too thanks to brake booster/master cylinder failure.
But I watch the color and it usually lasts about 75k

If the trans wasn’t such a pain compared to the others I would likely do it at 50.

If you don’t drive much in 4wd 75k on the front diff would be no issue.

I need to get under this truck and figure out where the differential vents are and either lengthen the tubes or put some sort of breather on them. Now that the water crossings are becoming more frequent.
Or else swapping fluid will be done more frequently than 50k
