It's from a 1998 but I'm sure it will fit into all first generation Expeditions 1997-2002.

Does it fold in half? Does anyone know if 97 expedition 3rd row seats fold in half or do they simply just come off???

They do not fold in half. They only come out or the back rest fold onto the butt part.
