I've not experienced that issue. Are you saying the pump prematurely shuts off unless you are pressing the fuel nozzle into the filler opening? Are these the pump handles that have the vapor capture collars? So for I haven't come across that type of pump handle on my travels.
It happens with about half the pumps I've used. I insert the pump, and it normally would stay in until you apply a little upward pressure on it to remove the pump. Well on mine, it tends to eject itself easier that it normally should. The pump seems to sense the lack of stability and shuts off.
I have to apply the slightest bit of downward pressure on the pump to maintain the seal it needs to keep pumping.

One wish item I'll add is I wish the Expy came with drop down screens for rear entertainment...in addition or as an option to the rear head rest screens. I know, there's a big sunroof, but I have seen it done in other vehicles with a panoramic sunroof. Basically one of the screens would have to come down from the center frame. Here's why: with 3 to 5 kids in back (especially with captains seats but even with a bench) only 2 out of 5 kids gets to be king with the TV screens. However, if the Expy had 2 screens that dropped down from the center of the roof, one for the second row and one for the third (as the Suburban/Yukon XL do) then all kids would feel equal, as if they were sitting in a movie theater.

Also, I know I'm not the only person who thinks like this either as my neighbor who really wanted to buy an Expy ended up NOT getting it for this very reason. He went with a Yukon XL Denali mostly for keeping the peace in the back seats with the kids (all watching the same thing FAIRLY, as he put it).

That’s a stupid reason for picking an inferior vehicle!

Says the person with no screaming kids in the back seat.....

Passenger entertainment (and driver sanity) is highly critical if you have multiple young children that fight, poke, bicker, and just are plain pain in the butts if they don't have entertainment for long trips.....

EXACTLY!! I have 3 kids and can definitely relate. My neighbor with 4 kids, who purchased the 2018 Yukon XL over the Expy mostly for rear entertainment "equity" reasons, drives 4 hours to/and then back from the mountains almost every weekend. He said that drive can either raise his blood pressure and cause him anxiety the entire drive, OR it can be a relaxing drive of catching up with conversation with his wife. And rear seat entertainment is the key to which of those scenarios plays out.

It makes sense if you think about it. With the Expy's 2 screens directly behind only 2 seats, only two of your kids would feel whole or as he put it, "king of the tv". Nothing could be worse for a long drive...kids fighting over the damn tv screens.

He told me yesterday upon returning from the mountains that he LOVES his Yukon XL because the kids were mostly happy and quiet during the drive. He admits its not as smooth or powerful as the Expy, but as he put it..."there is peace in the cabin with all 4 kids", lol.

With my 3 kids, they just use their iPads anyway, and can watch their own independent movies. Now with all of the USB ports, charging isn’t an issue.

I was personally thankful I didn’t have to pay for a rear seat entertainment system.

It depends on how old your kids are. The young ones cant hold them well and/or touch the screen when they shouldn't and make mommy have to reach back continuously to fix the problem.

Would like to see the following changes in Expedition Max:
  • Increased (at least double) maximum following range (gap). Mine will only increase to about 100 - 150 feet. This maximum range is an uncomfortable following distance at highway speeds, plus just adds to risk of getting a grit blasted front end or a rock-cracked windshield. I assume this would require more expensive radar, so I'm not holding my breath.
  • Ability to turn off (e.g., in advanced settings) the cruise control "braking" that reduces speed to setpoint, without having to cancel cruise control altogether. It's OK sometimes, but I still prefer coasting back down to setpoint from a speed overshoot, and having cruise control only use the accelerator to maintain setpoint. I also don't like that cruise control reduces speed in curves (and I'm not talking about excessive speed going in).
  • Ability to access advanced settings while driving. I don't see how that would be any more distracting than accessing some of the informational displays that are already available while driving. And why isn't oil life on the standard vehicle info display?
  • Ability to access side camera views in Sync3 display (e.g., to determine how close your wheel is to a low curb that sensors don't pick up).
  • Higher resolution cameras, and with better low light performance. Maybe it's just mine, but the camera views in this Expedition aren't as clear or as bright as they were in the rearview camera in the 2010 Yukon XL I use to have.
  • Add a touch sensor to lock the vehicle from the tailgate area (same as on all door handles, requiring that a key fob be nearby, outside the vehicle).

Ford, Please make all of the USB ports capable of data transfer. Those in the quarter trim panels at the 3rd row seats of the 2018 Max apparently are only capable of charging, as an iPod is not recognized when plugged in there. Aggravating! What possible reason, other than cutting cost, would there be for this?

Put a data transfer-capable USB port inside the center console storage compartment (under the fold-down armrest). My 2010 GMC Yukon XL had this, but my 2018 Ford Expedition Max Platinum doesn't?! There's no convenient place to leave an iPod plugged into the vehicle where it isn't in the way or at risk of having the cord snatched out of the plug. I use to leave my iPod plugged into the vehicle in the center console of the Yukon XL for months on end. In the Expedition I could do that in the tiny v-shaped compartment at the front of the console, but that space is so small that it makes getting the phone in and out very difficult.

Get rid of the swing-open door-type covers over the power and USB ports onj the dash and back of the center console, and replace them with something that recesses out of the way. these covers are in the way and thus vulnerable to being broken off when open. They look like an afterthought.

Make available optional color-matched contoured splash/mud guards (no logo) for all four wheels. Again, I could get these from GM for my 2010 Yukon, but all I can find for an Expedition is some cheap-looking black flat mud flaps. Really?!

Make the alarm mode selection of "perimeter" or "all sensors" persistent, remaining with last setting until changed by the operator. I changed to "perimeter", only to have the system revert to "all sensors" after a shutdown and re-start.

Provide sensitivity adjustment of (or just permanently desensitize) the internal motion sensors. There is no need for them to detect tiny object movement. And there should be a short time delay to prevent intermittent minor movements from setting off the alarm.

I’m pretty sure you can set it so you are prompted each time you turn the vehicle off, that way you don’t have to dig through the menu the long way to do change it one way or the other.

Here's a followup on the trailer selection. I still love the term "pre-flight" to describe the steps you have to go through to get the settings you want when you start with a trailer connected...

If I have no trailer connected, it behaves normally. The dash resumes on the screen you had previously selected.
If I have my travel trailer (7-pin) connected, it will automatically detect the trailer, select it as the active trailer, and will record mileage for the trailer. Nice!
If I then connect my utility trailer (4-pin), it will automatically detect the trailer, select the travel trailer as the active trailer since I haven't configured anything else, and will record even more mileage for the travel trailer! Not nice! I have to select No Active Trailer each and every time I start the vehicle with this trailer connected...
I don't think it's possible to configure a small utility trailer - no brakes to configure.

Still think it would be great to have a "macro" menu appear on startup that would let you select drive mode/trailer/etc. with one click. And all the notification windows that pop up get really old after a couple of times. Do I really need to be notified of cross traffic alert disabled, trailer connected, parking brake off, and drive mode each and every time I start the truck?

Another vote for less fog/water getting into tail lights. I’m not sure why they designed it this way, but it just makes me uncomfortable to see fog or water in them at anytime, even if it’s temporary.

That's why I bought the Expy, comfort, larger vehicle for safety and lots of room for five grandkids. I have my Silverado Z71 for romps up in the mountains, hunting, fishing and such. Plus, my wife loves the Expy and I remind her everyday that's why I bought it........brownie points really help when I wanna go running with the boys for a few days....

Now that I've had some time with my Expedition, I have a lot of changes. Most of which have been covered here.

I wish the max was available in the xlt trim in Canada, I was forced to get the limited even though the xlt has all the options I wanted. I want towing mirrors, get rid of the huge sun roof, and give me a colum shifter like the super duty's have. Also, I want 4wd hi, along with the auto and low range.

And am I the only one dissapointed in the ecoboost?? It has good power for stock but the fuel mileage is lacking. Its no better then the 2014 F150 5.0 I had. I would swap the ecoboost for a 5.0 or the 3.0 powerstroke in a heartbeat! If I wanted turbos, I would have bought a diesel.

I think what he’s saying is he expected better gas mileage going from a V8 to a 6 turbo, that’s all.
