I’m buying a 2018 Platinum from a dealer. Should I buy the extended warranty? I’m leaning towards no. Any thoughts would be helpful. Thanks.

I have read many criticisms that most warranties are ridiculously overpriced. be sure to review what is excluded from what is covered. I have done so several times on my cars, and always wound up refusing to pay for any extended coverage, and never regretted it.
if the manufacturer priced the product correctly, all likely failures are already covered in the original price including the factory warranty, so any extended warranties are almost pure profit for the manufacturer.

OTOH, it makes the wife feel good to have that coverage. I love my wife, so I buy her useless things on occasion. I just don't expect any return other than her smile.

She has a really nice smile.

I got a 7/125 premium care plan for mine. Just don't pay anything over what Flood Ford www.floodfordesp.com quotes. My Lincoln dealer sells them at $100 over cost (same as Flood) as a service to their customers. Plus you can get 12 months at 0% with 10% down, but not sure Flood does that.

I have always thought it was a bunch of BS that in their year spread they always include your already vibrant 3 yr "bumper to bumper" coverage. To me it has always been misleading.

That being properly complained about, I am considering the $200 deductible / 125K / 8 year Platinum Plan.

remember you can negotiate the cost down almost 50%. I am an extremely aggressive negotiator (I negotiate $100M+ contracts for a living) and was able to get 60% off the 7 year extended warranty and 55% off the 6 year/96K service agreement. They have a huge markup on those products.

Since this is my first every domestic vehicle and it has all this new electronics/technology, I decided that having an extended warranty and service plan was a smart decision, since the unknown can be a scary thing.
