I have Expedition #3, 2003 2wd V8 EB. Has about 130K miles. Smooth running, no problems until the past few days. Was driving normally when brake light and abs light came on. Tried cycling avtrack button on console several times. No response. Checked breaker box. All breakers test good. Next day I'm hearing a low-pitched growling that increases w/acceleration, decreases w/deceleration. Inspected suspension around front hubs and bearings. No sign of debris or leakage. No brake fluid loss or leakage. Anyone have any clues?

I have a scanner that should be able to read codes, but it not where I can use it right away. I heard the ABS controllers make noise but I have never had experience with one. If that's what the noise is, driving with it is not a problem until being replaced, right? I have just lost use of the ABS if I am not mistaken. Thanks for the links.

Hamfisted is right, get the codes checked. Autozone and Advance should be able to read it. Have you inspected wheel bearings for play? Bad bearings is my guess and I had the same symptoms with bad wheel bearings, but don't guess, be sure with codes!

This shows how to check, and then replace front wheel bearings on our rides, . The video description says for 2004, which is true for the F150, but the expedition got the new setup in 2003. You can tell by the much smaller axle nut, as compared to prior vehicles.
