Fuel cap or no???

okay im fighting with my ride with the po174... what has me baffled is i forgot to put the gas cap back on the otherday... and about 15 min after fueling up the checkengine light went out and stayed off... well i noticed i didn't have my fuel cap next time i filled up... so i got another one sure enough the CEL came on with in 20 min of putting it on...

how what why would this have an effect on the engine running lean??? im lost help please:greenchainsaw:

More than likely, you've got a leaking or deteriorated PCV tube connection.

My Intrepid throws codes whenever the gas cap isn't tightened enough too. I know you most likely have done this, but just in case you haven't, have you cleaned your MAF?

The last time my CEL came on, it was cuz of the MAF.

still look for a vacuume leak unmeterd air will set that code

My Intrepid throws codes whenever the gas cap isn't tightened enough too. I know you most likely have done this, but just in case you haven't, have you cleaned your MAF?

The last time my CEL came on, it was cuz of the MAF.

i havn't cleaned the MAF in over a year...

it just seemed odd to me that the code would go away with the gas cap missing and come back on once i replaced it... and its not throwing both lean codes just the po174...
