Fuel gauge reading opposite 97 expedition

Hello,

My fuel gauge is giving me reverse readings. When I fill up, it reads that its half full. As I drive and and fuel is being consumed the gauge begins to move upward towards the F level. In essence, when its empty it reads full and when I fill it up and the pump stops it only reads half full. Can anyone give me advice on what this could be or maybe how to troubleshoot this?

Had a similar problem on a previous expedition. The is a way to test the circuit. But from experience I would say that it is the float assembly which would require you to replace the fuel pump assembly. Sent you a PM with some information
