Hey guys,

I'm having an issue. So I wanted to get the Fumoto oil drain valve to make my oil changes easier. I went with the one with the long nipple to attack a 3/8 hose to to make it as easy as possible. The website told me that would be the F137N M12 - 1.75 model. The problem arose 4 months later when I went to change my oil. It doesn't seem to be the same size as my stock drain plug at all. It's way to large and will not thread in the hole. Is this because I have the tow package or something on my Expedition? Any help would be appreciated.

What year do you have? That's strange because my Valvomax is M12-1.75 (Just checked my order history) and I have the tow package on my 2019 and had no issues.

I was just about to buy the same for my ‘22. Have it on the wife’s car and great investment.
Mine tags in as a M12-1.75 also, have not installed yet.

Mine installed fine, so unless they changed something in later years, it should work. I've yet to use it though, eagerly awaiting that next oil change like a kid on Christmas. :D

I bought the same thing in Fumoto for my 22. Just been waiting for the next oil change to put it on. I still am not sure what to do about the felt “shield” thing though. I wish I could run something to the edge of that so I didn’t even have to mess with it.

The main reason I'm getting it is to avoid taking the damn felt cover off every time. I'm going to probably cut a small hand size access spot just in front of the drain plug, so i can screw in the hose and start the flow. 10x better than having to take the entire cover off every time.
I don't want to remove the entire cover, or cut too much off, as it does provide some minor protection from small debris.

The shield is not there for protection. It is for air flow and probably just aerodynamics. It also is good at collecting dirt and mud and also gets jacked up pretty bad if it comes in contact with dirt or mud.

Mine is a 2020 Texas Edition with tow package. I wish I could have taken more time and taken pictures, and or had a micrometer. I pulled the getto micrometer out though and set an adjustable wrench on the Fumoto showing about 12mm diameter and then moved to my stock plug and it seemed like it was about a 10mm, but certainly smaller diameter. I'm perplexed. I had about 30 minutes or less before I had to get to work so I just had to throw the stock back in and now I gotta wait another 4 months or so to even investigate further. Absolutely everything that I have found online so far says M12 1.75 so I just don't know my next step

I suppose there is the slight chance that I simply got frustrated trying to thread it in a weird position? Or that mine was mispackaged and mislabeled? but I am almost certain after putting the wrench on them that they were about 1-2mm different in diameter. I really wish that I hadn't been so rushed that I had to abandon my investigation and just get the damn oil change done.

Fumoto F107N with LC-10 lever clip FN-Series Engine. This is the one I got for my 2019 Exp. The Ford dealer removed it and claimed it may cost oil compression issue craps lol.

Have you ever considered using something like a Mityvac to suck the oil out through the dip stick? Very easy to use and no crawling underneath. First time I used it I pulled the drain plug to see what was left and it was just drips. Flip a valve lever and pump the fluid into another container to dispose of or take the unit into the auto parts store and pump into their container.

Really.........many of these service techs are only good at writing RO's and lack the knowledge of mechanical skills. I ask mine pertent questions and left him dumb founded. His background before Writing RO's was office equipment repair a year prior to being a Service Writer. My thought on the drain valve is liability. If it is not a factory part they get quicey and give some bad advice without doing any research.

I bought one of those and it will not work with this motor. The dipstick does not go to the bottom of the pan, it stops in a screen protected side cavity that will leaver about 2 quarts of oil in the pan. It's a bummer. works fine for my other 2 cars.

This begs the question: who is doing the oil change on the vehicle?

If you are taking it in for a service; ford (dealership) is changing the oil, so you wouldn’t put in a valve. If it’s a quick-lube…we’ll, I’m not sure that putting in a valve helps there, and just makes the chance of a screw up go through the roof.

So, it’s because the owner is doing it. It’s likely that someone who does that has added other ‘mods’ which could be warranty-voiding. Conversely, there are laws in place to protect the consumer agains false warrant denials because of an unrelated modification.

However, there’s always a risk. There are generally (off the thumb wild ass guess) very few engine failures in modern engines, but there are some very illinformed ‘professionals’ who will deny any kind of claim because of the air freshener - this lack of education and skill seems to be escalating at an exponential rate.

(Edit. I have the fumito valve for the past 3 oil changes, and do my own - except for the first one at the dealer which was free).

Some services apparently require them to drain the oil. Pretty sure my cam phaser service included all new oil. I could see a dealership not wanting to reinstall a drain valve at that point because if it fails, well, they (re)installed it and they could be held liable. I'd just take my stock drain valve in though and let them use it and make sure I get my quick valve back and on the next oil change I'd swap it back out.

I'd buy that line, but they shouldn't feel the need to feed me a bunch of BS about it.

I like to buy one but have a 2020 with tow package. Hesitate if for some reason the 2020 have a different size plug? Everything I researched shows its a M12-1.75. I like the 107SX so you can position it where you want it.
