Thanks to all for the input. I talked to my local dealer today and they said they would have the 2015 Expeditions on the lot in September so we have some time to make a decision. I look forward to using this forum more in the future.

I would jump all over a v6 eco boost if I had the money.

That stupid Bronco story fooled me too up until I read about the manual gearbox and diesel motor. I know the diesel has been talked about but you will never see a manual gearbox in a factory SUV again haha.

The Lion V-6 turbo-diesel is coming for sure. Ford has revived the Lion diesel program in light of the sales success of Chrysler’s 3.0 EcoDiesel V-6 used in the RAM 1500 and Jeep Grand Cherokee. The 3.0 EcoDiesel was designed and developed by the Italian company, VM Motori.

However, whether or not the Lion makes it into the Expedition remains to be seen. The F-150 will get it first.

After the F-150 gets it, Ford may shoehorn a few Lions into the Expedition to test initial sales. If sales explode and remain strong for a Lion powered Expedition, then the diesel might stay as a alternate engine for the full-size SUV.

I would wager that if the Lion was offered later in the Expedition, it would be optional to the 3.5 EcoBoost V-6. But possibly the 3.5 could be dropped anyway, in favor of the 2.7 EcoBoost V-6, making the Lion V-6 the premium engine.

But we are talking three year down the road when the all-new fourth-generation aluminium Expedition arrives.

I think the original name was suppose to be Twin Force.

Nobody mentioned the PREMIUM fuel for the EcoPuke. I'm old-school and have yet to meet anyone that loves the V6 in their F-150. Maintenance costs are also likely to be MUCH higher for the twin turbo darling. I'll need to see soem with 250k miles like the V8s before I'm convinced. (I have a 2010 5.4L Navigator, had an 07 Expedition and a 06 Navigator). No problems in MANY miles on any of them.

Heard it through the grapevine...reliable grapevine.

Ford is rushing a V8 back into the 2015 Expedition line-up due to Middle East buyers cancelling orders. They want the V8, not V6. Not sure if the V8 will be in US line-up or not, but suspect it will to fill in the volume.

Personally, I would take the V6. I read above with some being disappointed, but I know many that have it in the F150 and love it. Even folks who pull trailers have said it drives better than their previous V8 models.

New Model year hesitation

I work in the automotive industry, and always hesitate to purchase a completely new model year in the first year of it's release. There are all kind of engineering changes, fit and finish issues that usually don't get cleaned up until the second model year.

On a positive note, the engine is already in use and not a brand new design, so that shouldn't be much of a concern.

Procede at your own risk. If you can put it off a couple of months then do so.

The 2015 is not much more than a face lift on the exterior and interior dash. The engine is proven, just ported over to the Expedition chassis. The only other big change is the addition of the MyFord Touch system.

I'm looking to replace my H.A.M.R. Titan Pro4X with an SUV and I like the new Expy "refresh". I was hoping to get one early 2015, BUT there are just a few things I think fell short for me on the 2015 release.....some current updates are missing, in my opinion.

Waiting for the 2016MY, since the following things didn't get added so far and I'm not that crazy about the new 2015 F-150 design with it's Peterbilt grille....

1. No XENON projector or LED headlight option?!?! ("refresh", remember)
2. LED running lamp bands in headlights? There is an Amber clear plastic piece that does nothing except reflect on the sides. Put a single row of LED's behind it or put White ones there to make it useful.
3. Update all the bulbs interior and exterior to LED's....
4. Chrome is the only grille/headlight option?? Some of us don't like Chrome.....The Black headlight housings and monochrome grille from 2014 look great! FX2 or FX4 PKG!!!
5. Allow the color of the LED backlighting in the center stack to change with the Ambient "Mood" lighting.
6. Add'l bolstering of sides on the bucket seats in front and 2nd row!! No lateral support!

I, for one, am excited to see the EcoBoost in the Expy!:flamingdevil: It will allow me to take my Bully Dog GT Gas programmer out of my current Nissan Titan to add 80+ hp and gobs of torque to the EcoBoost when I get it!!
This is just one of the mod's I have planned!!!

I've got the wife's blessing to get the following, but am waiting till the '16's come out with HOPEFULLY some of the items above included/added:

1. 2016 King Ranch 4x4 in Tux Black with Monochrome Paint Pkg and loaded with Black interior.
2. All Chrome and KR badges will be done in Matte Bronze like the wheels below. Tow hooks will be only things that remain Chrome.
S1R_AHG_GBRZ_2_02.jpg

3. 22"x9.5" KMC Rockstar II wheels with 285/50R22 Nitto Terra Grappler G2's.
4. Light Smoke taillights like the Explorer Sport
5. The Chrome in the headlight housing will be painted Matte Black with Amber LED running light band.
6. Add a Bully Dog cold air intake with my GT Gas programmer.
7. Add a cat-back Gibson exhaust.

DONE!!!

The tuner just holds the tune. As long as he has the tune for his ECU he'll be good to go.

It was dyno'd with just a cold-air intake and hit 83 hp net difference on a video on their website. Went up from 270 RWhp up to 353RWhp....
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ud6zsPHhWgM#t=59

Pretty conclusive when it shows on the dyno......

I'd still take it with a grain of salt. Dynos are just tools that can be changed. But then it takes a lot for me to believe manufacturers anymore.
