I have a 2007 expy xlt, I think I've replaced everything that could affect gas mileage and I'm still only getting 11 city 16 highway. Does anybody have any ideas why or is this normal? Or is there something on here that isn't on every other vehicle that needs to be replaced?

The Federal EPA ratings for the 2007 Expedition 2WD were 12 City and 18 Highway.

You’re close.

Do you have 4WD? If so, even in 2WD it adds weight and decreases fuel mileage.

The type of gasoline you use can also have an effect. In my area of the Midwest, most pump fuel (including Top Tier Fuel) has 10 - 15% of ethanol, which lowers your fuel economy since ethanol has less energy than pure gas.

I do have 4x4, and our fuel also sucks. At least I'm close to what it's supposed to be. Does your 4x4 clunk when going to 4L?

I’ve only used 4L a few times, but it does clunk. My vehicle owner’s manual states that the drivetrain may clunk when shifting in or out of 4L.

Yep normal. Your lucky to be getting that much. Big v8, big truck equals not so good had mileage.

take off slow from the stop lights makes a big difference. tires do too. i put on a size larger with an aggressive tread and took a big hit on mpg

I only drive with A/T tires on mine and am in the process of getting 33's. Can't wait to see my mpg after those are on.

Well, you're already close to the EPA and you're running AT tires, so I don't think you'll see much better. I'm averaging low 15s in my '11 4WD EL with highway tires and a light foot. That's mostly local driving. When I hit the highway more often I'm usually averaging low 16s. ~206K on the clock.

I don't have a light foot, I'm not that bad but I definitely wouldn't say light. When you drive buses for a living you learn to put the pedal down since they take forever to get to speed. I have 209k on mine.

Driving faster doesn't have much impact in the Expedition, but routinely stomping on it brings me to the low 13s - a 2-3 mpg loss.

Our 08 mileage is 16.12 combined average over the 8 years we have been tracking our gas purchases. I’d say it sounds like you do a fair bit of stop and go driving.

I have a 2007 Ford Expy and my current gas mpg is similar to yours, 11.5 in city and 19 on hwy. The 19 mpg was obtained by driving very, very conservatively. I drive on Cooper Evolution Tires, check my tire pressure every Monday, change my air filter at the required intervals, add Lucas Top Cylinder lubricant to my fuel and keep the truck free of clutter and unwanted items. In my opinion, we will just have to live with the MPGs we have and enjoy our trucks the best we can. We are not driving VWs.

You normally get 15 city? How?

I get 15.xx combined with mostly local driving. I don't live in the city so my non-highway driving has some stop-and-go for stop signs, lights, etc, but I don't have traffic sucking down my gas. I also go easy on the pedal and am running highway tires.

I have 35” Raptor tires with a lift. Mine went down so I know what i did to the mpg! Lol
What lift do you have and is there any rubbing?
I plan in putting on the rough country 2.5in spacers but it says it'll only fit 33's and I don't believe that.
