Hi guys. Just now making the jump from the other board. I have a question.

Whenever I shift out of park, especially on a cold start or on a hill, as i begin to release the break from the selected shift, the truck makes a creaking sound. I dont know what it could be. On a warm start its not as loud and sometimes doesn't even happen. What could it be

(98, 5.4L, 2WD)

Any help would be appreciated

It could just be creaky u-joints. Does it ever 'thunk' when you put it in to drive from reverse?

I know the odds are against this but I had a siezed parking brake cable on the drivers side. It was not releasing completely and it would creak when I would begin to move.

toms89 i thought about this as well. the sound is similar to moving with the parking brake set. but my parking brake will hold the car in place. i dont know if it is seized or not because of this
