My 13 Jeep windshield just got destroyed last week from the same construction mentioned above. I have $0 deductible glass coverage through State Farm and they have already authorized Gorilla Glass for the $0.

Just had the '04 windshield done last weekend with OEM replacement $0 deductible. Was the factory original and thoroughly sandblasted at about 189,000. After 15 years of zero claims it was due for glass. LOL

Pretty amazing to still have the original windshield after 189,000 miles! We have so many triaxles in my area hauling limestone that it’s only a matter of time before a rock flies up.

Am I the only one that "sees" the windshield as a maintenance item/expense? I drive my vehicles longer term >10 years >175K if possible and there is nothing like that new glass! Invariably, there are enough rock chips/star fixes to warrant it or like in my old Tacoma w/lots of highway miles where the salt/sand/dirt/grit blast just makes the windshield prime for replacement. Any new glass is better. I have noticed that I drive with a larger gap in the Expy, mainly because I like to hold an egg between my foot and the brake if possible - fingers crossed no issues with the windshield yet.

Yes it is a luck of the draw I guess. My '16 already has two chips in it on the lower passenger side at 30,000. I'll wait until it is worse and blasted. On my ,01 pickup I went close to 10 years with a chip. On my '06 I bought it with bad glass so changed it the same week. Within a month it had a chip...yes that stayed for 4 years until I sold it. LOL
