Over 100 views and no response?....well, I think it's cool as hell that you're going to do something a little different. What is the turbine diameter of your turbo? I thought they were pretty small, like 40-45mm? My turbo bikes uses the old M03 I think, off the Dodge Colt Turbo.

It ran 455 hp 398 lb of tq on my 2.3 stroker dsm for a few years, since it was just laying around, I decided to use it. With the 5.4 I'll be hitting full boost at 1800 rpm. At 70 mph I'm running 1700 rpm. So I'll get fuel mileage as normal.

I'm excited about this. But I got to build up the spare block I got at a local junk yard

That has a 60mm impeller.....a bit under 2-1/2".....yeah, you're good!!

You know ahead then that the 5.4 bottom end(don't flail me guys) IMHO is not strong enough as delivered for use with massive<LOL>, injections of power with the stock insert bearings. Swap them out, plenty of good aftermarket from when I've read to replace them with. I don't know what else you will need to really look hard at now, so you won't have to "re-assemble"....sorry, but I'm a bike guy who happens to like turbos/sc'ers.

There's some pretty good talent on this board but understand that very few people outside of vendors-wanting-to-sell-you-crap do heavy engine mods to their Expeditions.....same engine in the Ford 150, yup, lot of those guys do, well at least in comparison!

I'm tearing it right down. Going to figure out the best cam and figure I'll run 12 psi should net me 450 hp 535 lbs of tq. Basically a 5.4 eco boost lol

I’m not well versed with turbos, though I’m a young guy so I’m more into big V8’s and Superchargers.....the muscle car years lol. The 5.4 is good for 500 horsepower with a blower, you should dyno it after you add the turbo. Cool!

Twin turbo
Single turbo
Supercharged
Twin charged super&turbo

Wait a sec, YOU OWN a dyno? <LOL>.....I've got friends in Norway, they EACH have dyno, a buddy in Toronto has one and now you. How can all you guys own the most expensive tool in a shop? Dang it just not fair<LOL>!!

FYI; Just for those who might not know why;

You should always dyno or at the very least, look at the AF ratios upon completing any turbo type mods b/c the pressure will lean out a charge but the power will hide the leaness....till something burns up, usually a plug itself or a piston crown or ring land.

On a bike when this happens, it can get a bit exciting but you can end the drama of watching your rear wheel coming around, transforming into a front wheel by disengaging the clutch.

This lesson was learned on a friends Turbo'ed Booming Black Flash....or for those not up to speed with '70's racing lingo....a race-prepped, turbo charged, Harley Davidson XRCR.....the Cafe Racer of the mid 70's on a track in Fla.

Hey jeff.

Check out nikolatuning.com

It's my best friend's and mine shop. I'm actually here right now doing the upgrades to the brakes and tires, still waiting for the 3inch magnaflo exhaust to get here.
