Hey all-

I'm new to the forum, but I've been hanging around for awhile. I plan on replacing all ball joints, tie rod ends and shocks in the next month or so. I noticed that the passenger side outer cv joint boot was torn up and throwing grease all over the place last weekend while putting in new sway bar end links.

Can I just clean up the old half shaft and install a new boot, or should I just replace the whole thing since I'll have everything taken apart. I haven't noticed any grinding or squeaking yet. I refilled it with grease and slapped some RTV on it for now, but I'm sure that this fix won't last long. Ideas? Thanks for the help!!!

I would just replace the whole half shaft. Lord knows what has gotten in the boot

I replaced my half shaft on the drivers side about 3 years ago with a cardone unit. No issues with it yet and I abuse it. Easier than servicing the cv joint.

+1 to just buy the replacement half shaft... Faster and easier to deal with..

If you can get to and remove the snap ring.. It should be a snap :)
