Has anyone ever painted their chrome plastic grille?

I am getting everything I need together to repair my rockers and paint my truck. It's an XLT so it has the chrome finish on the grille. I want to paint that the same as the body color. Has anyone ever done this and how did it hold up? What prep is involved?

It's just shiny paint. Scuff it as well as possible, and paint it, or, use a very light media blasting technique

Use an adhesion promoter (most auto parts stores have it) after you give it a light scuff. Then, prime, paint and clear coat and it should last a long time.

Dupli-Color :: Adhesion Promoter

If you don't use this stuff, chances are that the paint will flake off.

+1 on using adhesion promoter. It is really a great stuff especially when doing plastidip.
