First off, I just want to say that I've only ever driven small vehicles. Being 6'7, driving has never been a comfortable endeavor for me. All I've ever worried about was fuel economy and cost-of-ownership due to my job requiring heavy use of a personal vehicle.
I now work less than 5 miles from home, and have recently started to perform simple maintenance by myself. I decided it was time for an upgrade from the Honda CR-V I had been shoving myself into every day for the past few years.
Anywho, I think I got a pretty sweet deal on an '06 4wd Eddie Bauer with only 68,000 miles on the clock. After trading in the Honda, I ended up paying just over $13k. Sounds too good to be true, right?
It isn't. I put on 4 new tires for under $800 due to a sweet employee discount through my company and firestone, changed the fuel filter and dropped in a K&N filter for an immediate 2mpg increase around town. She runs smooth ( I plan on purchasing a programmer to firm up the shifts, however - call me OCD), and has exhibited zero problems in the 2 weeks I've had her.
I think I'm in love, but then again I haven't tried to remove the plugs yet
I don't need to tow anything yet, but I like having the option in case the need arises. It's just my fiance and I for now, so no huge family. Honestly, I fell in love with this particular year/model after driving a buddy's home after a day of binge drinking where I stopped and he kept going. 3 months later, I find this sitting on a lot a few towns over. Stealer couldn't wait to get rid of it. I suppose nobody in Jersey is looking for a tank with a healthy appetite for fuel. I on the other hand, have welcomed her into my family with open arms.
Coming in the next few weeks will be a coolant drain and fill, a thermostat and gasket replacement, and a transmission drain and fill. I work 6 days a week so hopefully my Sundays stay nice and warm
Looking forward to learning what I can about performance from the community and pictures will follow soon.
