Hey guys just bought a used 2012 expy limited with headrest DVD system... how do I get The sound to work over the car speakers? The "sound around" button on the remote doesn't do anything... can't change fm freqs like the YouTube videos show... any suggestions

I installed the Ford OEM DVD headrests in our 2014 and did all the wiring to spec. There was no wiring connected to the head unit to allow for the sound to come from the vehicle speakers directly. Not an issue for me because the kids use the headphones, but I thought it was strange. If your setup is the same, I would guess it could only be through an FM signal or bluetooth, but maybe Ford does connect them to the head unit for a true factory installed setup. I'm interested to hear a resolution to this as well.

You could always purchase an external FM transmitter and plug it into the headphone jack on the headrest...wouldn't look great though...

Apparently it has a built in fm transmitter within the system have you pushed the "sound around" button on the remote and see the fm frequency it is set too or does it just show you the symbol with the circle with the line through it?

OK. Figured it out. If you are using the DVD on passenger headrest you have to have monitor B on the drivers headrest. Then on the remote, push the left sound around button and the drivers headrest screen will say "FM OFF" hit the sound around button again and will show the fm frequency to play on the radio. You can also adjust the frequency by pushing the up and down arrows on the remote.
