I've got a CEL that popped up a couple days ago that is P0305, which is the #5 cylinder misfire, it came out of now where about 30-45 minutes after filling up on gas. It started running rough and I had to drive it about an hour back home. Seems to run the worst at about 50-55mph. From searches I've found that the problem is more then likely the ignition coil or spark plug. I've had the truck almost 2yrs now with out issue. Its a 2000 5.4L Expo EB AWD with 120,000. Would it be best to change the whole set of coils and plugs? I'd like to prevent doing 1 cylinder now and another in a month or 2. Which replacement parts are best to use?

Thanks

The diagnosis sounds about right. If you're having issues with one then you'll probably be having problems with the others sooner rather than later so I'd just do all of them at once.

As far as brands, I haven't done mine yet but from what I remember reading here I think most people stick with the Motorcraft stuff. I'm sure someone here on the forum will chime in soon to give you some better first hand advice that'll help a little better than I can. Good luck!

If you have the time and money do them all at the same time. My youngest son had one go bad so he just replaced it. It wasn't just a few days and another one did the same thing. Only this time he was down at the lake. 4hr drive to get it home. So when he got home he replaced the rest of them. I think he bought them from Auto Zone. Life time warranty on them also..................Gary
