We reciently got about 5" of snow, and I shifted my '99 Expy EB into 4WD-LO. After playing a bit, I switched back to the Automatic setting, and the vehicle is now stuck in Low Range. I've tryed everything as far as driving Forward, Reverse, Park Neutral, Stop and Restart...nothing.

Any insight on this problem, and potiental fixed would be greatly appriciated.

Regards,

Chris

take it to the dealership. if you tryed all of those things you listed and it does not work, any more screwing around could cause serious damage to the trannie, which now your talking big money.

Dealership or your regular mechanic would be the best bet. That's one thing I am not fond of in Fords; motors to shift the transfer case. Just put a lever on the floor and be done with it.

In the mean time you can safely drive the vehicle - as long as you do nor over rev the engine and you are diving on a loose surface to allow wheel slip (assuming this is a locking TC). But that sure does limit the usefulness of the rig. :)

i wouldent risk driving it to the dealership with it stuck in 4-lo. cv joints, transfer case, u-joints, tires, hell, everything in the truck basically has a possibility of breaking. you could try tapping the shift motor on the transfer case with a hammer while someone sits in the truck with it in nutral, with the brake pedal pressed, and tries to get it back into 4-hi. otherwise, have it towed to ford, or a local garage if you dont have any warranty left.
