I just bought an '04 Expedition, but I do not know what submodel or whatever it is. I know it is not an Eddie Bauer (it's nice, but not that nice). It has cloth seats in the front, vinyl in the 2nd row, and no 3rd row seats (but I was told I could put seats in the 3rd row). It has bed liner for the floor, which I love by the way. It has controls for rear A/C and heat in the back, but no way in the front to turn it on and there are no overhead or floor vents for the back. I think it may be the basic model, but with some things missing and others added. The guy I bought it from said that it was a commercial vehicle to show the model off I guess. Any ideas on what I have? I am having problems with it also, but I will post those in the correct categories.

Welcome! Pics would be helpful, but it sounds like you have the "commerical" version, most commonly seen in municipality use. It sounds just like the ones we used when I worked in Federal Law Enforcement. These can be a mixed bag. Sometimes they're in good shape, as they were GSA cars and had to be maintained meticulously. Sometimes they are driven HARD and not maintained at all. It's hard to know what you're getting.

Post the problems you're having. The group here has been great about helping folks out who have questions (like me). Hope you enjoy your Expy!

From my vast knowledge of police and Federal cars, because Ive been in the back of so many of them (just kidding btw), I think the only way to find out is through the DMV to run your VIN. Some of those Fed trucks have an Interceptor chip for the police vehicles to pound out a few more horsies. So if it was in the state or Fed system, they can find out for you, or you can always run a CarFax. Did you get one of those when you bought the truck?
