New to the Forum, and to Expedition ownership, and just wanted to say hi

Just picked up a '97 XLT 4x4 a couple of weeks ago to replace my trusty old first gen Taurus SHO that got sandwiched over the holiday season (295,000+ KMs and was still going strong, gotta love that Yamaha engineering).

The truck is primarily intended as my winter beater, but will be pressed into towing duty once I am finished rebuilding my boat - hopefully sometime this summer.

The truck is in surprisingly good shape considering the bargain price I picked it up for, just needs a bit of 'attention' to get it right up to *****. Right fender and grille due to the previous owners deciding to do a bit of unintentional off road driving (he hit the ditch, and a tree, due to some ice...), a set of decent tires, and of course the good old P0171...

:welcome:

I remember the first gen taurus SHO's back when I was racing my 89 mustang lx. One of if not the fastest fwd at the time. Was a sleeper in its day...

Thanks for the welcomes all

Glad I found the place. Already found some good information, and I am sure I will get some good answers once I dig into the project more and come up with a few questions...

Indeed it was.

Mine was even more so in it's rusty and crusty 25 year old guise. I surprised more than my fair share of modern sport sedan drivers with her. Even though many had more power than I did, it weighed next to nothing so was really nice and nimble on her feet... :rotflmao:

Oh, and here's a picture of the new beast

Looks pretty good from this side, other than the rust spot on the rear quarter.

Once I get the other side fixed up I'll get some better pics of her

Where abouts are you in Alberta. I read in the other thread that you are Southern. We are probably pretty close.

Good ol' Cow town...

How about you? < edit> never mind, I just read the other thread... hehe

Yeah, that is definately one of the things that attracted me to it. Great colour with some character, and not just the plain old boring beige/tan/white/gray that 80% of cars wear these days.

And indeed, another name, Royal Blue metallic. But I like Ford Blue better :)

Only reason I know is that I got a fender in my back seat right now and am trying to decide if I am doing a ham-****** paint job myself or if I am going to try to find a local shop to spray it up for me. I'd love to just have it done at a shop, but the budget being what it is really saying otherwise... :-\

I hear ya, one of my pictures on my profile is of my budget fender repair on the passenger side of the truck. 20 dollars of bondo and 5 dollar paint from home depot=close enough haha.
