It's been awhile, finally finished off the house renovations (down to the studs), have only 16,300 miles on my 2022 Expedition XLT as we used it primarily for towing the race car and hauling materials for the house. Retired in between, and now have idle time on my hands this afternoon and decided to play around with cutting up a Capa certified (it means it fits like an OEM part) hitch cover to use with the hitch installed. It's cut larger than it needs to be (I have another cover waiting for final design) so I can add some trim to the openings for now. All corners are radiused to prevent prevent stress cracks.
For those that have done something similar in the past, what are you doing to accommodate the trailer plug? I've contemplated drilling out a hole and using a rubber grommet with a slot leading to it, but not certain I want to go down that path just yet. Also thought about a 3" hole with some rubber trim so I can just stick it through and let the larger hole just sit there, but uncertain at the moment. I've done the typical search, and seen a few other ideas, but want to reach out and see what else others have accomplished.

Thanks in advance

Bill
