How Did I Do? New to Me 2000 Eddie Bauer
Greetings all,
First time Expy owner here. I've always liked them and their Lincoln brethren, but finally happened in to one. A while back, my wife and I had both been laid off and I had to sell my truck, which I loved. We were a 1 car family for months -seemed like forever. One day while on break at the new job, I noticed this baby sitting on a corner of a mechanic's lot with a for sale sign on it. Turns out it belonged to said mechanic. I asked him about it and here are the basics.
My new to me Expy (149K miles) was a one owner before the mechanic bought it from the original owners. The wife of the couple blew up the original 5.4 Triton when she failed to do anything about the knocking she heard. The mechanic found a low mile replacement 5.4 from a wreck and checked it all out, compression was 175psi across the board. He put in the engine, new A/C, new battery, 4 new Wranglers, he had it detailed and even though the paint is a 15-footer (it's got lots of little nicks and scrapes when you get up close) she drives great and looks respectable and the interior is quite nice.
I had a local dealer base-line it, all new fluids, power flush the brake fluid, change the power steering fluid, do a complete trans flush, service the transfer case, change the gear oil, the only mechanical issue was one leaking axle seal, so I had both done. The tech at the dealer said it's rock solid, no oil leaks, suspension solid, brakes, etc. good to go. The tech said it should easily be a good driver for years to come. We picked it up for less than $4K. How do you think we did on my new favorite rig???

I love my Expy!
WeatherTech mats and vent visors on the way, plans for a true dual exhaust -would like some suggestions there, and window tint to be done soon.
