best bet would be to get off the computer and go outside and measure it as you may get different answers on here plus many other items will affect the height of your expy Take a 2x4 lumber and lay it across the highest point on your roof and measure to the ground Then write that figure on a piece of paper and tape it to your dash so you never forget

sooooooooooo...what brought this into question?

Parking garages??

I measured mine before venturing in some parking garages in downtown Baltimore. It clears by a few inches according to their posted height limit but hits the bar as you enter.

I still feel as if I should duck driving through it..

Lol, thatès totally what it was. I was going into a parkade marked as 6'-6" and I could hear the little warning bar bouncing along the roof. I had to do one of those Austin Powers 80 point turns on the ramp to turn around and get back out.

Sort of related, but does anyone know how much leeway they usually give you in those parking garages? Say they post clearance as 6'6", do they actually make the parkade 6'7" so nobody has any issues?

I'd like to think they would give it some extra clearance when you consider all the sloping concrete floors, ramps, fire sprinkler pipes and stuff, but I haven't been able to find anything.

Or do they physically go in and measure every single point in the parkade?

I would suspect that they post the lowest clearance in the garage including pipes etc. where the vehicles travel. I would assume they give a little buffer to insure the posted height would clear. Think they could be held liable for damages otherwise. Of course I have no way to confirm. I did measure the safety bar at one I had entered and it was over 2" lower than what was posted as the limit. (Why I hit it going it)

If you happen to run into inadequate clearance you could always air down the tires though it should not happen assuming your vehicle is under the max height posted.

Austin Powers 80 point turn? Air down your tires? Shoot, the roof rack is a consumable, as far as I'm concerned. 4x4 Low if you get wedged. Dang sure ain't parking outside!

that height is usually lowest point in the garage/parkade. Pipes etc. At 6'9" i dont hit my head on the crossbeams. but come close.

I have laser guidance system on my Expy that measures distances between me and everything around me. Tells me the height of bridges , or parking garages from 100 yards. Lets me know the speed I'm approaching oncoming traffic, and vice versa. It will even let me know the exact tread wear on my tires per trip I take. Pretty handy little tool to have. Only problem is that it runs off of plutonium ,not the truck battery, so it's a ***** to keep charged.

Yep.. plutonium is not available in your local grocery.

You need to get yourself one of these:
