i think i should film it. but here it is. when i first start her up, morning night, when its cold she has all the power in the world. she hauls ass and i get to freeway speed in noo time. but when she warms up i have no power. and heres what else is new. before 2K rpm i have hardly any power. i can feel it being sluggy. then after i pass 2K she speeds up fast too. ill film it with my phone and post what i mean tomorrow night. what could be the problem? is it the air filter and fuel filter? i just need to do them i guess.

If it is your intake, I would clean it quick since its K&N. Mine has seemed kind of sluggish lately, especially up at high altitudes, but mine has always seemed like it hits a powerband around 2200 rpm. I need to change my fuel filter too, so if I get around to it before you, I'll let you know if it helps at all.

Have you found anything more about this? I think I'm going to do my fuel filter tomorrow. I already have one that I was going to do this summer, but my tool didn't work and I think the filters in Iowa, so I'm going to get a new one and a try a different tool. I quoted a few shops how much it would cost for them to do it if I couldn't get mine off and they said $70!! and that is why I do my own work. . . I'll let you know if anything changes, I'm hoping for a little better mpg.

i havent. i made a video, but its from my phone and i cant get it off since its too big of a file to send. so what ever. but i want to do the fuel filter later today if i can. i have the tool from the old van we had so it should still work. then im going to do the air filter. clean it and lightly oil it. i found in an off road magazine you barely add any to it and it does the job. just enough to get the top and let it run down. it should be enough.

Ya, they say to oil them really lightly. Most of the packages come i a bottle of oil, but when I did mine, I borrowed my buddies kit and it had a spray bottle. I feel that worked well since you could spray it on in a light coat. I am going to do mine again this summer once I buy a kit. I know I clean mine more often than necessary, but I cleaned mine last winter after about 10k and she was filthy!! I guess that's what gravel and dirt roads do. . .

I got my K&N cleaning kit for $12 at O'Reilly's today with a fuel filter. I'm gonna clean the K&N this weekend when I can find someone with a hose to spray it with. After awhile of working on the fuel filter in 30 degree temps, I got it and I wouldn't think, but man! It made a noticable difference. When I go full throttle from a stomp, the engine builds a little faster than before. Its not a lot, but it seemed to get more power about 200 rpm lower than before. As for replacing it, this was my first one I've done, and this is how I would recommend if its your first as well. I bought the tool from advanced auto parts. http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/detail/KDT0/61059.oap?keyword=fuel+filter+tool

Remove the clips that are on the fuel line. I did the front line first. Push the tube on the filter all the way into the fuel line, push the tool into the hose, and pull out the filter and tool at the same time. Make sure to wear glasses and where you are positioned or you will get doused and possibly go on a profanity rant, and for me, I did it in the school parking lot as a group of ladies walked by. . . I had a pain with the rear end and after struggling, I was able to work the filter down past the fuel tank so it was hanging straight down under the tank. This made it much easier to get at, and it popped right off. To put it back on, just push the hose on till it clicks and hook up the clips and your good to go!! :waytogo:

thanks for that. o and use LIGHT water pressure! just a hint for that. it might take forever, but at least the cotton wont end up under the filter. but im going to do my filters tomorrow. and i have that tool. its plastic, but still works. so im doing that tomorrow, i guess later today now. so yeah. i know that the problem is the filters being dirty/old. ill see what happens after i do them.

I just cleaned my MAF and K&N filter and I noticed a big difference in performance. Smoother and gas mileage increased. Only thing is, it took a while to clean filter becus first i had to spray it with the cleaner and leave it a while (about 10min), but not let it dry, then i used a water hose to flush out the gunk from the inside out, then I had to let it completely dry (about 30min), then i sprayed the oil and let it sit for about 10min. Then reinstalled. That was almost an hour just to clean a filter. But like i said, sure made a difference in the idle and much smoother throttle response.

ive noticed a little increase in mileage, but then again i was about 1/3 tank left, so i wont know till i fill up again. smoother power gain so thats a plus, and better throttle response. still need that edge to... well... give me an edge. haha
