Hello,
About 2 weeks ago my check engine light came on. I had the codes read and it was P0171 and P0174. I disconnected the battery and cleaned the MAF sensor.
Re connected the battery and drove a few miles, no CEL any more.
The next day I tried to get it inspected and they told me it wasn't ready.
They told me to drive it about 75 miles and come back.
Well I drove it 100 miles, mostly on a highway with a few stops.
I went back and they said it's still not ready, that I still need to drive it another 45 miles or so. They said to go about 20 miles on the freeway, and get off. Do a few miles on neighborhood streets, and get back on the freeway.
They said repeat the process a few times and it'll reset.
Well it's a week later, I've been doing normal driving. Mix of freeway and city streets. Last Sunday I pulled my boat to the coast and back.
I've probably been about 300 miles since this all started, and I tried again this morning to get in inspected and they gave me the same story again!
It seems like something is keeping it from resetting.
What can I do?

I hope someone can chime in here but I am sure there is a proper readiness sequence to follow. You may want to also add what your driving.

With the EVAP monitor the fuel tans must be between 15% and 85%, the engine temp must be normal, throttle position must be part throttle, and you must be cruising at between 45 and 65 mph for 10 minutes for the check to begin.
The CAT monitor will be done if you drive in stop and go traffic, including 5 different constant cruise speeds ranging from 25 mph to 45 mph over a 10 minute period of time.

I found this online with Google.

I googled it and found a couple of different things saying they are the drive cycle.
One of them involved connecting a machine and running the motor.
The other one was only driving a sequence.
Arrg!
frustration.
