From what I've seen so far from browsing a lot of vehicles, I thought that the "pro trailer backup assist" feature and the drive mode dial with 4 buttons surrounding it (adding the tx case lock and 4L mode) were a standard part of the HD Tow package. But I came across the one linked below, which apparantly has the package, but is missing these features/controls. Does that sound right?

If it doesn’t have 4L it does not have the Heavy Tow Package. Have them show it to you on the original Window Sticker or build sheet.

Not sure what to tell you on that one...maybe they're reusing pictures from a different vehicle? Definitely would ask. I have damn near the exact same version of Expedition and my window sticker is almost identical to that one...this is what mine looks like:

Yeah, that's what I was expecting. This is an out of state vehicle so I can't check it out in person, but the person I've been speaking with at the dealer is adamant that the pictures are of this vehicle, it does have the HD Tow Package, but it does NOT have the Pro Backup Assist or 4L features.

The sticker says “No Charge” by the tow package. I think mine was $1k+.

Same here - my sticker says "No Charge" - if I remember correctly it was part of the 303A Stealth Edition

Ford is so weird with their options. My Platinum would not get the tow package included, but the Stealth does. Only option I had on the Platinum was the tow package and power second row captain chairs.

Have him snap a picture of the VIN so it can be compared to the window sticker. Maybe the window sticker is for another vehicle. Also I thing the ESLD is pretty evident if a picture is taken from the bottom.

It’s possible the factory put the wrong piece in. There was another user on here (I don’t know who and I don’t know what thread, so you’ll have to trust me) who was missing rear climate control buttons in the second row...he/she took it to the dealer and it turns out the factory put the wrong console in. I think they swapped it.

If the sticker says it has the tow pack, the vehicle is supposed to have those buttons...I betcha this was a Friday build.

Have them send you a picture of the white sticker near the drivers door. That will have the VIN and the axle code... If it's anything other than "3L", it doesn't have the heavy duty towing package. If it does have the 3L, there's some sort of screw up with the other pictures...

It actually isn't, here is a snap shot of the window sticker of one my dealer was going to get me that didn't have it (yes it is a Stealth) the HD Towing is "included" in the convenience pkg

Just did a trip from TN to MI. 76ish most of the way. Vehicle said 20.3 MPG but when I calculated it I got 18.5. This is in a 19 max platinum with tow package using 87 octane with 2 adults, 2 kids, and 2 carry on sized pieces of luggage.

Just did a 120+ mile trip and got 14.2 mpg based on the trip display calculation.

My old 2011 Hondas Pilot would get around 8-9 mpg along the same route and maybe less weight, too.

I traveled the same route without my camper and got 21.4 mpg. I stayed around +5 mph of the speed limit. I also only use 93 octane fuel in my vehicle.

I just did an 800 mile round trip. Max Platinum, no HD tow.

17.5 mpg down, 18.05 mpg back. Hand calculated. Driving about 80-85 the whole way. Mostly using adaptive cruise.

Ford possibly is not super clear about tow packages by design. I’ve met a couple of EXP owners who bought what they thought was the heavy tow pack only to discover later they didn’t. The window sticker your showing has the 3.73 but never go by the window sticker As mentioned it is in the door sill sticker.

If you shut that cruise off, you can gain a solid 3+ mpg. I tried it on my 2,500 mile trip. But then you need to think, so there is a trade off! lol.

I shopped for about a year and never had a problem with window sticker not matching. I did encounter a salesman that thought the base model hitch was the tow package. Have to be smarter than a lot lizard or they will stick you with what you don’t want just to make a sale happen.
