In the market for a Navigator L

Help me decide which is the better buy. I have 2 Navi's that I'm pitting against one another and can't settle one one over the other.

Both are 2018 Black Labels with the White Exterior.

Differences:

#1 - Has 54k miles, CPO, chalet interior (the one we love the best), AZ vehicle. They are asking $73,800.

#2 - Has 33k miles, no CPO (I would opt for Ford Premium Care) yacht interior (light blue, which we are ok with), Michigan vehicle. They are asking $71,500.

Which would you choose?

First off, that's way too much for them, second off the Michigan one will be solid rust underneath compared to the AZ one. The frame, suspension, etc is still all steel and poorly prepped in my opinion.

Second off, RUN FOR YOUR LIFE and do NOT buy a 2018, they are known POS's. If you want a little reading material, you can read thru the history on my wifes 18 Black Label. It just got a new engine at 20,000 miles and has been apart almost 1/2 of the 1 year we have owned it. I would never ever buy an 18 from everything I have read on the forums and Facebook groups. The 19's and up have proven to be much better.

I agree with Deadman on this - both appear overpriced. I just purchased a '19 Navi L 4x4 and while not a Black Label, it is a select with every option except Pano roof (hate the thing and it was hard to find one with 30 way seats, HUD and HD Tow without the glass top.) anyway, 40k miles and paid less than 65k three months ago.

While the Trim Level difference may be reflected in the pricing, the year newer (with some of the gremlins engineered out from the 1st year model) makes up for it IMO.

I just purchased a '19 Navi L 4x4 and while not a Black Label, it is a select with every option except Pano roof (hate the thing and it was hard to find one with 30 way seats, HUD and HD Tow without the glass top.) anyway, 40k miles and paid less than 65k three months ago.

While the Trim Level difference may be reflected in the pricing, the year newer (with some of the gremlins engineered out from the 1st year model) makes up for it IMO.

Ya I’ve been seeing a lot of lemon buybacks for the 2018s. That being said, it’s an L plus black label with less miles than yours for $6.5k more. A Select is the base trim so it makes sense on the price you paid.

I think nav bls have the 4.10 rear end. Have you driven the different trims, I think the bl navs have a slightly crunchy ride compared to the lower trims.

They are all 3.73 gears, but I'll agree that my 18 BL rides like complete $hit compared to my 18 Expedition. Its stiff as a board and bucks over every seam in the road.

Dead giveaway is lack of integrated trailer break controller and trailer backup assist right below the push button start. If they don’t have that, they are not equipped with HD tow.

I think they never had the 4.10 option.

Now now that seems a bit over the top. Yes there is some rust on the arms but is it really that much?

Is a little rust ever much? Yes, once it breaks the finish and blisters like that, It'll continue to rust even in drier climates. All it takes is a humid day to activate that rust thats already there.
If I'm paying $75K, its better not be all full of surface rust like that. Just my opinion, but we deal with salt here and every vehicle is destroyed after 8-10 years in our salt. My $75K vehicle better not already have 3-4 years of rust under its belt.....

That is amazing, that is how I special ordered my Navigator. I did not want a Plano roof, but wanted everything else. the only difference is I did get a bench middle row. I am surprised there is another vehicle with that configuration.

It's diff for everyone, but you get a truck where most of the kinks are worked out, you have a warranty to ride on, the company will be more willing to buy it back of something goes wrong, and the my22s are comin out soon, so it'll be more "modern".

Ya the 22s are tempting but I can’t stomach a 100k vehicle. 70 is more reasonable as long as it’s low mileage and under warranty. This is a cash purchase.

used car market has exploded. could easily account for the difference you are seeing between now and this spring.

Ya the 22s are tempting but I can’t stomach a 100k vehicle. 70 is more reasonable as long as it’s low mileage and under warranty. This is a cash purchase.

If you can do without the "opulence" of the black label interior, you can option a reserve pretty well for 86k-90k.
