Information Center Malfunction due to Trailer

I am new to the site, but found a similar issue posted by another member:

"We bought the EL to have more room and to tow our travel trailer and decided this past Saturday to hook the camper up and take it for a test run up and down the interstate. Sunday morning, when we left for church, I noticed the information center display was showing "Rear Park Aid <ON> OFF" and neither the Setup nor the Info button would cycle off of that setting. I tried Reset and it showed "Hold Reset to Clear"... which I did... and the display went dark. Turning the ignition off and back on would bring the Rear Park Aid back on the screen, but it was still unresponsive."


I've had my Expedition since it was new, but never attached a trailer until today. I attached to the 7-pin trailer connector today. Now my information center freezes on whatever the first message is. Since I know I'm not the only one, I'm hoping someone knows of an easy fix. Any help would be appreciated.

Welcome to the Forum

It is always nice to know what year Expy we are dealing with concerning problems.
You may have had the expy since it was new but was in new in 2007 or 2017 or somewhere in-between.

Bought my 2014 used with about 30,000 miles on it. Had the same issue. It was still under warranty and I took it in and the shop had to reset the computer. I think there's a TSB on this IIRC.

This exact same thing just happened to us with our new-to-us 2014 EL. Hooked up our RZR trailer yesterday, which worked fine all the time we were towing. Today we head out with no trailer and - gee - no info and no way to reset it. We got the Rear Park Aid thingie. No way to reset. Grrrr.

Any suggestions since this post? Or do we have to take it to Ford, even more grrrr.
