Interior rattles

This issue is from a 2026 Expedition Tremor with less than 3000 miles. When going over mild bumps there are what sound like interior rattles coming from areas behind the front seats.

The 2014 that I traded in had no rattles except for the D-ring on my titanium water bottle, so this is really unacceptable.

I have read that there may be a rattle coming from the sunroof. I was wondering if the seatbelts for the unoccupied passenger seats were the cause.

So far I have just observed and have not zeroed in on anything.

Anyone have the same issue?

Have you been able to isolate the area? Is it intermittent? Is your tag screws tight? Try to find a general location and take it to service? Probably something loose?

I have a rattle with the seatbelt roller that is being addressed during my first service.
Any chance that's what you're hearing?

I don't have a 5th gen, but I have been driving Fords for 32 years and have never owned one that didn't have some sort of rattle, squeak, creak, etc. Good luck.

Dlcorbett: Tag screws? The fasteners are tight and exterior.

Csnide29 is pretty close to what I suspect (the passenger seatbelt rollers) since there is no load on them most of the time. I will buckle them and see what changes. I think denial has overcome my rational thinking where there is no way Ford would deliver an $85K truck with rattling seatbelt rollers.

I did kinda think it may be an issue with the moon-roof since I have never owned one having always been tasked to repair leaks in them by others that do have a moon-roof. And you know, more parts in loose fitting tracks should result in a rattle.

Like with everything else, I will find the root cause, but it doesn't hurt to sample some owners of the same product.

ManUp: 32 years? in the 70's I was a GM man, in 1980 I had a used 78 Ford F150 that I used for diving gear the same time I had my 77 Z-28 Camaro. I sold them both and bought a brand new 1986 Ford Bronco XLT. From then on it was Ford only for me. The twin I-beam suspension the F-150 was the best and the steering radius on the Bronco was second to none.

Like I said in the first post, my 2014 pretty much had no rattles. That Expedition was the best vehicle that I have ever owned.

I'm getting a rattle from the drivers side roller, with load on it. Can't test without cause I always have my belt on.
I suspect that it's a jiggling of the roller on the pin/bold that secures it.
It's not the end of the world, however as you noted, I expect more from a costly vehicle.
The Lincoln wasn't that much more money and I'm sure it would be unacceptable in that vehicle.

I had a rattle that was related to the road roughness. Seemed to come from below my right passenger side. Dealer said it was a loose plate that had to have bolt tightened up. Charged me about $200 but it fixed the problem. Too much trouble to argue warranty coverage. I don't go to that dealer anymore.

Yes-- easy fix -- the outer seat belt extension arm which is located below your hip knocks against the door when going over bumps. Easy fix is buy seat belt pads on eBay ($10) and wrap around the extension arm. No more rattles
