Last couple months I was getting really bad fuel economy, mostly short trips was averaging around 10-12 MPG, but I knew I needed the cam phasers replaced... Got that done last week, so yesterday, took it for a 60 mile spin, 30 miles up the coast with a headwind, 30 miles back with a tail wind, and very little traffic, so I was able to maintain a steady 55 MPH (the speed limit) on cruise control the whole way both ways. Averaged 19 MPG going north, and 21 MPG going south, for a average of 20 MPG

this is on a 2019 Expedition 4x4 w/ the HD tow (3.73:1 final drive). I have 18" wheels and the tires were 33 PSI per the TPM, I need to top them off to 35 PSI. Tires are the Wrangler Territory that came on the 18" wheels, which were F150 takeoffs.
Not bad statistics considering you have a 4x4, which carries more weight and the engine works a little harder to power all four wheels, or at least the extra drivetrain components, resulting in lower fuel efficiency compared to a 4x2. It's still amazing we can get this good mileage on such a big vehicle. My Ford Excursion, with a 5.4ltr, got 10.9mpg around town and 15.5 on a flat road doing 55mpg.

to be fair, with the transfer case in 2H, not much extra is being spun, the front hubs unlock so the front diff is not turning at all (at least, they did on my F250 4x4, I assume the Expedition has locking hubs?). Certainly there's a few 100 lbs extra weight (transfer case, front drive axle, front differential, front left and right axles). And, the Excursion was an F250 based 3/4 ton class vehicle

I knew coming from an Explorer ST the mpg's would be lower as were usually 18ish-20ish mpg with normal driving while mostly in sport mode. We are averaging low 15s with the Expedition lol. It is what it is.... most of the time on the highway we are 75-82mph and not usually on roads that's aren't THAT flat.
I do plan on getting it tuned and changing spark plugs soon, so maybe we will get 1-2 more mpg... if not, oh well lol

We got ours at 4,200 miles (general manager drove it) and iirc the avg MPG was around 15. Pulled our travel trailer for only about 200 miles and MPG was awful, maybe 5 or 6? Anyway now we've put another thousand miles on it (in ECO mode and mostly NOT in the city) and we're around 16, so I guess compared to others here I will be happy with that.

Honestly, I think you might have something going on. Made a trip from just north of Daytona to Sarasota a few weekends ago in our 2024 has the 304A which comes with the bigger engine. Also is 4x4, 3:73's. My wife drove both way's, traffic was horrible going through Orlando stop and go and wait. It was 214 miles and we showed 20.8 M PG. We use sport mode almost all the time. Speed was 70-80 mph when possible.

Averaging ~15 MPG. This truck is occasionally used for driving around town to run errands on weekends or a family road trip. Otherwise it's parked for the most part.

Last trip this past weekend was a 300 mile day trip and got about 17 MPG with the 35's added and the 3.73's that come with HD tow. Avg speed was around 75 mph. My calculated MPG's have also gone up a bit since I was also able to correct the speedo as close as possible since the wheels and lift (my distance calculation was quite a bit off - 1 mph off vs. 5mph). I also only use 91+.

On my previous Expy with the stock 18" Michelin LTX, I was able to get 22+ on the hwy.

I wasn't aware that 4:10's were available.

I would have no idea where to start looking. Maybe I will simply reset the MPG counter so at least I hav strictly our own driving reflected on it.

Ya should reset the counter, check your tire pressure as well. If low can cost you a couple of MPG. I'm going to guess your into winter fuel by now. That will cost you a couple mpg as well. Where up north are you?

Northern Wisconsin, and in fact the 4,200 miles on it when we took delivery were winter miles.

That and maybe the break-in period? I doubt the dealer's general manager touched the MPG reset; probs also drove it in Normal mode. I'm good about keeping tires up; thanks for the tips.

I've 20K on mine with the HD tow, 3:73's, 4X4, get consistent 19 combined and 22 on the highway depending on traffic. Not a max though.
What are you running for tire pressure? It should improve after 5K
8,100 on my 4x2 2024 XLT Max - from Lees Summit, MO to central Alabama - 65 mph tops, my avg was 26 mph. I have a 2016 F150 4x2 Super Crew 3.5 Ecoboost and it’s hwy mpg is 24-25 - not towing and just my wife and I.

19 to 21 mpg sounds about right. Wind, temperature and winter tires all effect mpg on mine quite a bit. I can go from 21MPG down to 14 MPG in the winter no problem. All I need is snow covered roads and headwind. Matter effect, going North I always need less fuel than going South! We do have most of our winds coming from south or west.

This year, 2 road trips, each over 1000 miles, averaged 22.5MPG overall. I've got the 3.5L Twin Turbocharged, kept cruise control at 70-72 MPH majority of the time. Currently my overall average hovers between 22.5 - 22.7. Prior to this Expy, had a 2007 EL Limited with the 5.4 engine and never saw 18MPG on any road trip. Granted, comparing a 5.4 V8 to a 3.5 V6 isn't fair, but, getting over 22 MPG overall is great, regardless.
