@st381183 for dealers its not about improved reliability and longevity....its about $ - dealers do not get the normal labor rates when performing warranty repairs....the techs time is cut (in 1/2 and the rates are significantly lower)....AND they need ford's approval to perform warranty repairs (or risk non-reimbursement).

the 2020 MY im proved injection to prevent build up....and there for FORD would likely say you don't need the improvements AND they don't know the long term effects.]
If I do this (and likely I will) - im going w/ a 2 can system to catch the blow by from each valve cover!

Is an ounce over 5k enough to cause an issue? How much did the first gen engines send through?

The amount sent through is not decreased between the gens that much. The difference between the gens is that the 2nd Gen 3.5 also has port injection which has the secondary function of cleaning the Valves some. So it is a little less of an issue.

My thought is prevent it from being there in the first place.

I have had catch cans on my 3 previous EB’s. My dealer only asked what brand, because they had other customers asking about them.

I got the battery tray mount and can extension from jlt. The mount went very smooth with no issues.

It's been a month with very few miles and my can was nearly full again. I gather it's normal but very annoying so I'm glad I got the extension.

You are filling the can with extension, in how many miles?

Temps? What year? Idling? Remote Start?

Damn in a month it’s full? What year is your truck? I might need to step on it getting one.

I just got the extension yesterday so this was just the regular 3oz can that was nearly filled. We had a few cooler morning drives, one trip with 16ft trailer with 20 sheets of osb and lumber. Honestly I'd say a couple hundred miles is all it was driven. No idle to speak of and no remote start. I'm going to keep better track of mileage now because I was expecting less fluid since the temps are warming up. This is on a '19 with 8,000 miles.

would have been nice if they put a petcock / drain on the bottom of the can!
Some do but those are more expensive. I've been thinking of doing that my self, I don't think it would be too difficult.

Sorry, posted in the wrong catch can thread earlier... filled about 5oz in 500 miles with the extension. I'm not convinced it's normal but I can't really figure out what normal would be. Anyone have any thoughts? Photo is what the oil/ water mix looks like in a paper towel. Really glad I got the extension.4701cd31cbb8a39b1b9df596d0724e31.jpg

Sounds like a lot of blowby based on my experience. I have the JLT 3 oz catch can and I maybe have it 1/4 full (less than 1 oz) when I check it at each 5000 mile oil change. This is just normal driving with no towing, so maybe if you are towing heavy all the time it would have more blowby.

No towing in this 500 miles and most of the time its in eco mode. I'm new to turbos, how would I confirm having to much blow by? And is that a warranty type issue?

If you figure 5 oz every 500 miles, that would be about a quart every 3000 miles, so I'd be checking my engine oil on a regular basis if I were you. I would discuss it with the dealer, but you'll likely need to document a pattern of oil consumption to help your case for a warranty claim.
