Hi there! I bought a new to me 2021 Expedition Limited. It has about 67,000 miles. Service history was good and the ride was good. After having it a bit I noticed when I slow down to a stop, the expedition jolts forward. I've even heard a clunk when I had to hard stop once. I also noticed when I am on the freeway and let off the gas a bit then apply the gas again, it's almost like the transmission has to figure out which gear it's on. I don't have any codes. I did see that there were a couple of service bulletins but no recalls. Has anyone taken theirs in for PCM/TCM reprogramming?

You said the service history was good. Did it show the reprogramming?

I suspect you will need the transmission rebuilt or replaced soon.

Have same problem with my ‘21. Downshifting to 3rd is the worst. Upshift to 5 and 8 but not as bad. Have dealer appt at the end of the month to address. Expecting new/rebuilt result.

We purchased a 21 model with 47K miles and noticed that the transmission had random harsh shifting. Took it to the dealer at 55k miles to get in before the factory powertrain warranty expired and they reprogrammed the PCM/TCM, which made it shift much smoother. I understand those modules will "learn" your driving habits and while the harsh shifting does occur at times, it is still much better that what it was. Unless you have an extended warranty, you may want to give that a try.
