Just got a 2005 EB

I bought this from a guy in Grand Island, Ne. yesterday. Paid $4500 cash. So far I haven't been able to find anything that doesn't work, including the sunroof, which I frankly don't plan to use much. It has the 5.4L Triton engine. There is no startup rattle, and no hot idle knocking to indicate worm cam phasers or shot VCT solenoids. It has the factory installed towing package, with plugs for a round 7 pin plug or a flat 4 pin plug, which is what my pickup bed trailer has. It has 165,567 miles on it. I do plan to deactivate the Easy-Entry sliding seat feature, that bugs me. It's pretty well optioned out. I even got the original dealer window sticker from 2005! This truck sold for just under $48,000 when new. It's going to be my daily driver. The '99 Grand Voyager has 208,000 on it and is developing some issues. I look forward to some quality time with this thing!
I owned more Fords than anything else. I had a '69 F250, but had to let it go. It was developing more problems than i had time to deal with. I look forward to being a part of this community.

Welcome to the forum. Keep your fingers crossed and oil changed. My friend's son has a 2006 F150 that he's had great luck with. Maybe the previous owner took care of all the little things. Nice clean SUV though. Did he give you the service records?

Nice Rig! Enjoy. First Expy? Looking at the pic … cold & snow … my first thought is the window regulators. I avoid operating the window when "it's all froze up". Melted & defrosted is fine but I've popped some part in there twice (expensive repair) in the freezing weather when you try to move the window and it doesn't go. Maybe its just my bad luck or ????

If you have rear heat a/c … you either have the thumping or will get it!

Liftgate wiper bushing will gum up, stop wiper, and drain battery …

just requires some maintenance but great vehicle

I really appreciate that I've owned my 2003 since new, know all the maintenance I've done
when you buy a used vehicle -- you have to wonder what the previous owner did

With the 5.4L, regular oil changes are the single most important thing you can do for the engine. Ford Tech Makuloco, on YouTube, recommends using 5W-30 rather than 5W-20. According to him the 20 is used only for the CAFE ratings, but the 30 will better protect the engine.

It's not just your luck! I've learned not to use the power windows when there's freezing precip about! We have cold and snow today. The cold has been here all day, the snow off and on. I took that pic just before heading to the DMV to have it titled and licensed. It's about two miles, and when I got there the snow was coming down pretty good. I opened the glove box to get the paperwork out, and that's when I remembered that they were still on the kitchen counter! I had to look something up last night, and forgot to put them back. So back home for the paperwork, back to the DMV, back home again.... At least I know for sure that the 4WD works!

I don't use the windows at all anymore when we have any type of precip during freezing weather. For whatever reason these windows seem more prone to sticking than any vehicle I've ever owned before. Maybe there's more space between the weather stripping and the glass.

Thanks! I haven't driven anything this big since the Freightliner, and that was 15 years ago! There are a couple of surface rust spots about 2" in diameter I'll deal with when the weather gets warmer. They're just above the windshield. Hopefully the 'Huskers can get it together THIS year!
