Im thinking about fabricating a 10" or a 12" lift for The Expedition I got all the stuff to do it except for the cast iron molding stuff but i know a guy a county over that does it well and he said if i drew up the spindles and added some measurements he could do it for me for a small fee. Seems to me that it cant be that hard considering fabtech's is just a 6" drop why cant i fabricate a 10" drop? Well i think i can. So im gonna gather the dimensions for cross-members and i think ill keep a wide stance like fabtechs cause theirs extends out the front wheel base 2 inches or so. So i'd keep that im sure at this much height ill need a custom drive shaft for the front but theres no avoiding that i guess. And for the rear im gonna keep my 6" coils and throw in a 3" coil spacer that way its about level with the front and for shocks since they make no bigger ones that are roundhole to a stud so i was wondering if anyone knew of a dual shook hoop kit or something for the front shocks. Can i get some opinions on this idea? and one more thing i know solid axle is the absolute best for strength and durability but for ride quality its shit. Im not saying that an expedition with 40's or 42's is gonna glide like a dream either ha but still i kinda want to keep my truck's suspension in tack rather than cut shit and weld perches for leaf springs and throw in a dana 60 haha my truck just ticked over 66k im not trying to cut the front suspension out of it. so if you guys could give me some input or tell me if i missed anything that would be greatly appreciated. full throttle suspension makes a 10-14" lift kit for the expy. but from what i have heard, suspension lift kits like these arent worth a damn. if you bump up to 40" tires, you are going to have nothing but problems with your hubs and ball joints. i was trying to do the same thing but our front end just isnt made to handle that much rubber. i did test drive an expy with the FTS kit on it and some 42's and i loved it. but not very safe from what i have been told.

Yea i mean i know most of the shit up front is made to handle a 40's but i got moog balljoints and the upper control arm. Only thing i would be worried about if 5 lug studs could hold a 22x14" wheel with like 40x15.50x22. And i know FTS is Not what i want considering that and the fabtech kit cost almost the same lol. But i could make a stronger one but if im getting some spindles could it be possible to somehow throw a chevy 3500 cv axle 8 lug in there and bolt it up to diff?

damn, 22" rim with 40's? studs may not hold that! hahahah. as for different axle under the truck, one of the things you need to worry about is the width. im not sure if the cv would fit our diff. if you can get flange size and how many bolts, then we could compare the two.
