Had a misfire in my #4 cylinder. I change the plug, ignition coil and changed the coil pigtail. Problem continued. I'll pull the valve cover to discover two of my rocker arms had came off on the exhaust valves in the number 4 cylinder. How can i pull out the lash adjuster without pulling the camshaft. I putting a bandaid on it till i can change the camshaft all the adjusters, rockers and timing in a few weeks.

I think there is a FORD TSB, about using incorrect oil and problems with followers/lash adjusters. Ford recommends 5w20(industry standard). 5W30 is acceptable. 10/30, 10/40, 20/50 and 30W is unacceptable. The heavier oil starves top end, under high RPM, the followers come off. Beware! This is not 1977, 5W20 is not too "thin"(I have heard this argument). That goes for engine additives. An older engine does not require "thicker" oil.

I had a local shop, do an alignment, that also does oil changes. I saw there 55gal drum of new stock. I glanced at the label and it was off brand 10W30. They were changing oil on a Ford Taurus, in the bay next to mine. I asked the mechanic if 10/30 is OK in that vehicle. He said "we put that in everything", it will be fine. My radar then spotted drums at local chain(Delta Sonic). There drums said 30W. I asked the manager, and he said that label was wrong? Beware hack shops and cheap oil change joints.[/QUOTE]

Thats not even the worst typical quicklube offense....

Filtered mixed waste oil is supposedly a classic with those guys. Random weights, types, contaminants, additives all dumped together and filtered somewhat halfassedly.
