Here's my plan, tell me how I'm going to eff things up :D

Truck: 2008 Ford Expedition EL (5.4L 3v)

Done: Replaced all roller followers. But when I looked at the old ones, none were bad. So I left the valve covers off. I have not put everything back together yet.

Now: I want to replace the lash adjusters and cam phasers

My plan:
  1. Remove all 24 roller followers, so both sides (sucks, I know).
  2. Oil up the lash adjusters (should I dip the rollers in oil too?)
  3. Put the timing locking cheese in the passenger side.
  4. Loosen up the passenger side camshaft enough to replace the lash adjusters.
  5. Tighten down the camshaft.
  6. Replace the passenger side cam phaser.
  7. Remove the cheese, put cheese in driver side.
  8. Loosen up camshaft/replace lash adjusters
  9. Tighten down camshaft.
  10. Replace cam phaser
  11. Remove cheese
  12. The spend a day putting valve covers on, etc…

What am I missing or doing wrong, or out of order?

How many miles are on the motor, and have the timing chains and guides already been replaced once ?

180k miles. No, I don't believe they were, but the chain still feels tight, and I snaked one of those wire cams down into the front end, and the guides seem to still be in one piece as far as I can tell.

Did it twice, still had issues. Replaced valve springs and seals and its good now...
Good time for a high-volume oil pump also...
Just saying while you're there...
