Late shift when stopping?

i have a new to me 2008 expy that I’ve noticed shifts late from 1-2 in the last moments before I come to a full stop. It’s feels like a sight lunge. Additionally it feels like it shifts late into 2nd when accelerating from a ful stop. I’ve taken it to my local mechanic to have it diagnosed and think they may simply change the tranny fluid and filter but wondering, do you think this is mechanical or something related to the adaptive transmission? As I’ve said I’m a new driver of this vehicle and didn’t at all remember feeling this sensation in my test drive...

Try the fluid change before you do anything else. Old worn out fluid can cause a multitude of small problems. This might just be a cheap solution to solve your problem.
