Leaking Manifold

I have a 2000 5.4 with 92K on it. The car doctor told me my passenger side manifold was leaking and needed replaced so I was thinking that I should just have both replaced. He is telling me about $1000 for all that. Does that sound fair? Any one ever have this issue before? Any advise would be helpful. I live in the Cincinnati area.

I've never had to deal with this problem.... but I know changing the manifolds is a pain in the rear.... so that price is probably all labor...

Thats what I was thinking. The mechanic was going to drop the engine and basically redo everything except the pistons. Pretty much new engine when I get it back.

yeah its probably not the manifold but a broken stud in the head...happens alot...but the passenger side manifold is directly in between the block and engine mount...so yes its a pain...
