Good morning,

I have an 03 Eddie Bauer (5.4L 4x4) with almost 182k miles and reside in New Mexico at about 5300 feet. A few years back, my front right axle seal was identified as having "seepage" although not enough to have even one drop of fluid on the ground. We have taken the vehicle out of state on numerous occasions and have not seemed to have a problem until our last three trips to Phoenix. While in Phoenix it appears the passenger side axle seal leaks, obviously causing quite the concern. Here are the quirks though:

Axle seal was replaced around Thanksgiving 2020. Prior to that, no drips at home, Pagosa Springs, Denver, Farmington, Flagstaff, or Lubbock. After the seal was replaced, still leaks in Phoenix but not at home. In fact, by the time we got home from Phoenix not only does the leak stop, but there are no stains in the driveway of even residual fluid.

I haven't seen anything about how low altitude affects fluids or seals, only high altitude. Should I look at something else that might be happening? The technician didn't mention anything else going on with the transmission.
