I'm reading a lot of different posts showing all different "possible" LED bulbs that replace the stock ones on the exterior and interior. However my head is spinning from all the choices, and some people have had problems making them fit, some just aren't bright enough, and some aren't listed on the standard conversion charts (mirror courtesy lights?).

So what I'm wondering is....can someone who's done the conversion make a list of parts that we can all use as a sticky. Just for example, I'm trying to make an accurate list of part #'s I need to order, and I'm compiling a list of links of places to buy them from. And maybe a brief description of some of the LED terminology that had gotten a little confusing (to me)- like the term "plate" and "forward firing" and "bulb out bypass module" etc.

I can pretty much figure out how to take them out and replace them, but the shopping part is where I'm really lost. There's a bazillion different options for each size of bulb and I don't know what fits and what's too dark, which ones are a waste of $, etc. For example one website I looked at had about 30 different styles of 194 LED bulbs- none of which showed dimensions or pics of how they look lit up.

I had read on a few posts here that the Sylvania chart was wrong on a few bulbs for the 2003 like the overhead reading light bulbs.

One last request.....has anyone replaced the bulbs in the door keypad? Mine is pretty dim, it would be cool to change colors too.

i got you!
license plate- t10 x2
courtest lights- t10 x2
2 overhead map lights- t10 x2 (tricky oem light setup dont get just any t10 bulb)
now for the 2nd and 3rd row overhead lights it calls for a 578 but get (3) 42mm bulbs
i got mine and a few others hooked up for around $30 for the above bulbs from ebay
had these in for about a year and no trouble

for the license plate and courtesy here is an example (i would get these)

and the other interior lights (most expensive of the bulbs around $5-$8 each

now as far as brake lights theres a resistor component that you have to get or get a bulb with a resistor built in it if youe going to change those to led because there is some tricky safety wiring that will give you "racing" blinkers if your tail light is blown and since the led bulb dosent use that much power your truck will think its blown, mine is halogen still for now

smd led(surface mount device panel light emitting diode) is the way to go its the HIDS of the led world and are much brighter

im lost in the sauce when it comes to the backlight on the door keybad but im sure some soldering would be required

hope this helps
