I damaged my driver's side mirror to the point of having to tape it up to use. Yes, ouch. I ordered a replacement unit since it is relatively simple to replace. Just expensive $1000ish. Ordered oem but the info provided was minimal. My questions are;

1. Do the oem replacement side mirror parts ship out in gloss black or any primer color?

2. Can anyone direct me to a source of information that can guide me to where I can disassemble the damaged mirror and replace some parts and keep other parts?

Thanks guys.

Assuming minimal changes since I replaced the mirror covers on my previous F-150, and since your mirror is already damaged, you don't have much to lose...the actual mirror can probably be (carefully) pried off the in/out-up/down motor plate. If it is heated glass, and/or your vehicle has BLIS, there will be wires attached to the back side of the glass. Once you get the mirror off, you can undo the wires and have access to the fasteners attaching the mirror to the door if it's necessary. And yes, I suspect that the replacement will be unpainted with a matte finish, and you will need to have a body shop paint to match the vehicle.

Here's a YouTube video for a Honda, but Ford mirrors are about the same to work on. Good luck

If I were here, you would know it !
The replacement mirror I got for my son's Impala came in a matte black, probably just a primer, meant to be painted to match the rest of the vehicle... it looked so nice, I got him a matching one for the other side and gave them a coat of gloss black high-temp metal paint & finished them with a clear coat...the rest of his car is dark cherry red with black trim on the pillars and around the windows & doors, so it looked quite nice in the end :D

Thanks guys. From my research, the mirror assembly should be part #nl1z17683ac. I am having trouble finding where to key this out to what I have, camera, blis, power fold, spot light. None of the mainstream oem parts websites are helpful with this. Can anyone confirm that the part number is correct for 2023 limited 304a Expedition?

Is there a simple way to key this part out online anywhere? Thanks.

Thanks Gone, I bought one at FairwayFord website that I keyed out as best as possible with my VIN etc. All the oem parts websites are pretty similar formats (including Tasca) with the same standard exploded diagrams, images and choices, just the price and shipping are different.

Anyway, I ordered the part and sent my VIN with which they replied back it did not fit my VIN. Cancelled the order. Soooo. Full circle again. None of these websites have a true image or photo of the part, just a boilerplate image.

I downloaded the Service Manual (thank you Rednecked) and got a general idea of the mirror workings but need to be sure of part numbers before I take the next step. Any experience in this anyone??? Thanks.
