Hi all,

I found this forum and figured I would come on and ask a few questions regarding leveling kits on the 3rd gen expedition. I have an 08 (pictured below) and just put some slightly bigger tires (275 65 18) and wheels on it, and want to level out the front, but I don't know whether to go with a 1.5" in the front or a 1" in the front. Has anyone done either of these and have pictures of their setup? I would like to go with the 1.5" but as of now the wheel gap is the same front and back, and if I raise the front end too much it will screw with that and throw it off, which is why I'm looking at the 1". Any help, pictures, info, or suggestions is appreciated.

Thanks!

I plan to go with the 1" on mine otherwise it will be too high in front I'm sure.

Ya that’s what I’m leaning toward but I haven’t found any 1inch spacers... have you found any?

That is one other thing I have been trying to find out is if f150 spacers would work... do you happen to know what spacers you got or the brand? No worries if not... Thanks

I have found on all 4 3rd gen expeditions i have owned they sit pretty much level based on measuring to top of wheel well. The current 2017 max i own, i installed a 4 corner 2.5" lift with 305/55/20 tires on factory rims. This is the best set up ive used yet. Very happy

So to sum up, very little to level if any.

I have found that they sit level measuring from ground to top of wheel well as well but if you take it from a few other points it doesn't sit level. The front wheel well sits up higher on the fender than the rear, it's odd... That's why I'm going with such a small level kit because it would look weird with too much up front since in that aspect it's already level.

ReadyLift 3/2. Stock 3rd Gen are canted forward. Maybe the air shock version levels out? But the standard version is definitely canted forward just like the F150 in order to accommodate a payload of over 1500 lbs. I’m not sure it would be worth the time or money to do a 1” kit. The 3/2 doesn’t actually make much of a visual impression and your ground clearance becomes just a hair better than a stock F150 because the Expy with its 4 wheel IS sits lower than a Subaru Outback. Check out www.stage3motorsports.com. They did a full build and have lots of pics.

I have 2010 EL and used the rancho readylift leveling kit it not only level but also gave it some lift about an 1-3/4 which allows for 295-55-20 winters tires and 305-40-22 for the summer. you can also dial in how soft and hard you want your ride I set mine halfway point not to harsh and not to soft 2010Expy_LI.jpg

Ya that is the only thing I am worried about is it not doing enough to the look to be worth it, however I do tow with it occationally, and I was towing the other day and I measured how much the rear sqauted, and it was pretty dang close to about an inch of squat in the rear, and it looked good. That turned out to be a pretty good little simulation and it looked fine. Im just worried about the wheel gap on the front fenders if I go anything more than an inch, MAYBE an inch and a half. I hate the cali lean look and think it may give it the illusion of that.

I think the 1" blocks would be perfect.

About 400 pounds of gear in the back makes it look level. Maybe that's why the are canted forward while unloaded? I recommend concrete blocks, rather than ping pong balls. That will leave some room for the kids in the back.
