This topic came up a year ago or so. You could put your key in a faraday bag and put it anywhere in the vehicle. That will block all radio signals in or out of the bag. You can find them on Amazon for reasonable prices. I have one and with the FOB in the bag and being right next to the vehicle none of the remote buttons work or the proximity stuff like grab the door handle unlock.
Just take the battery out and put in a Ziplock bag in the back storage area with the battery. Zip tie the emergency key under the car and your good to go if you loose a fob, or the battery goes dead. Just purchased a 2024 to replace my 2019. I was able to program the old fobs to allow the car to run in case of an emergency, but the buttons do not work. You need two programed fobs to recover the default door code and program a new fob easily at home, so its good to have an extra or two to avoid the locksmith problem.

Why not use the number key pad on the door to open the car, then just program an original Ford fob and take the battery out and hide the fob inside the truck. If you need it, just place the fob into that fob reader under the cup holder (take the rubber bottom out of the cup holder and you see it). Start the truck and go home.
We do this all the time with zero issues to date! I also do this most days when at work with my F150!

oh but remember Ford is removing the keypad from here on out... maybe there will be a subscription for it. I used to always think the keypad was ugly on early fords, but given how much I use it now that I have one, I love it.

My suggestion about the hidden fob is based on having a family. They don't know where the extra 3rd spare is. Anyone have a hide a key and have the wife or child use it and not put it back and you see it on the counter a week kater? After that happens to you once you will have an extra programed fob buried inside. Then you can get home at least.
When I go in the water I just lock the primary active fob inside. Can't believe they even would consider removing the key pad. It is one of the few key differences with the competition. Owned 5 expeditions and that little keypad has been a deal killer to switch to a likely more reliable Toyota with better resale. Stupid yes, but do a lot of water sports,;forget keys in house and want to get someone out; forgot to lock and can just do it when passing by etc.

My wife never takes the fob out of her car. I lock the car almost every night from the app. It won’t unlocking when guy arrive at the door either.

Not to beat this dead horse, but this is the beauty of the keypad on the door and yes, the app. Many times we go shopping, or dressed a little nicer to go out to dinner where I don't want to deal with fob and I lock the fob in. Use the app coming out to unlock and start. Been that way for years with the key pad. I used to use it with the dogs for quick stops back in the 90's. Lock it, leave them in with the AC running.
If Ford does away with the keypad on the door, IMHO they are making a mistake.....but that's just me.

Just remember, these are all services that over time will become subscriptions. So something like a keypad you presumably pay for once when you buy the car, vs. a subscription, hummm. And yes, most of us also use Fordpass, but for a lot of folks, like those with purses for example, your phone and keys are together, so if one is gone they may both be gone. Not to mention another account just waiting to be hacked, luckily, we don't have to give fordpass our entire personal record to get it to work.
I know this response is a little off topic but regarding Ford Pass, IMO, you should be aware of exactly what you are sharing before opting into those 'services'. You will be sharing your driving habits (speed, braking, cell phone usage, signaling, fluid change data, features enabled/off, etc.) as well as other statistical and monitoring data. This information, depending on what you check in the interface, can be shared with not only Ford, but other 3rd party entites including insurance companies.
And sadly, in order to get some vehicle 'features' to work, they force you into opting into the data collection.

When I ordered my 24 Max Lmtd 4X I got 3 extra keys at my demand. I kept an extra key in my 04 and then 09. The 24 senses it so you have to shield the key. I made two from copper pipe that the key fits into. I have one shield in my center council for normal use with only one end sealed.. The hidden one has both ends capped with copper and I taped it shut and have it hidden for emergencies. I have only used the hide away key once when I lost a key in the Gulf of America in Fl. A simple and effective solution.
