Faraday bags work great, as does just wrapping the fob in heavy tinfoil (which is what I use mostly).

I've done this for years with no issues. Even tried an RF scan (I'm an engineer so I have access to goodies like these) just outside the truck. It sees the fob when unwrapped, but not when wrapped.

Vehicles wont require keys/fobs in the not to distant future to operate.

Y'all talking about locking the key in the car and using the door keypad, just beware of battery drain. I seem to recall some other folks mentioning getting stuck with a completely dead battery after being at the airport for a few weeks. Dead battery = no door keypad. If you wanna do that kinda thing for longer parks, might want to look at one of those solar battery maintainers you can put on the dash and park where it can help keep the charge up.

Little confused. Are you saying that leaving the key in the vehicle will drain the battery? My fob is always in the truck, in the garage....always...for the 6 years I've had it. It's not locked, but that shouldn't matter.

No, I'm saying I've seen some folks on here talking about leaving their truck in e.g. an airport parking garage for a couple weeks while on vacation and then coming back to a completely dead battery. As an example, over Christmas I parked mine with a ~97% state of charge in my parents' barn. When I left to come back home about 2 weeks later, it was down to 61%. Yes, that's not dead in 2 weeks, but I don't have anything wrong with mine, it has a battery 20% larger than my parents' 2022, and it still lost ~15% per week. By way of comparison, I left my 1989 Crown Vic in the garage to go on a business trip to China/Japan for 2 months. When I got back it was still well over 12v and plenty of battery for interior lights and the door keypad. Just a friendly reminder to know how your vehicle behaves when sitting. ;)

OK, I got it. I guess that's all the consumers these vehicles have. So, not fob related. You're just saying that the drain could leave you with a dead battery and your keys are locked in.
