Hi there.
I got a 04 exp with 5.4l motor in it and i have been driveing it for a year now. Bast car i have ever owned to be true

What have you guys been doing to increase hp and tq?

I'm not looking to spend thousunds of dollars but at least something. Any advice??

Basically, cam head and intake are good starting points. If you can find a supercharger from a Lightning or Harley Edition it will bolt in!

Bain, your answer ended up on wrong post. Jonni, welcome to the site. Theirs quite a bit you can do depending on how much you want to spend, and how deep you want to go. The simplest would be put on a better breathing exaust system from the cats back. Many to choose from, do your homework there. Next would be a K&N air filter. Then have a performance shop do a computer tune for either 91 or 93 octane. Those few mods will bump you from around 260 hp, up to close to 290-300, or higher. Beyond their you can consider a supercharger, but that might require lower compression pistons. That move will get you over 450 horses. We had a member a few months back that did that mod. Another freebie would be drop weight of vehicle. Remove 2nd and 3rd seats, that's close to 80 pounds there. Get rid of tow hitch, that's 70 pounds, you get the idea. Keep the SUV free of unnecessary stuff. All these things help. Lastly, be sure the emergency brake is set up loose, those little rear shoes dragging will really slow you down.

A good tuned motor. One of the tuner programs (Hypertech or SuperChip....) Synthetic oil ( 10w-30 ...). A Volant cold air intake. That's about it without spending a boat load of money. Run the tires at 40 psi .

The best way to make an Expy to run better is open up the intake with head work, throttle body, and an aftermarket intake, exhaust: less restrictive cats, freer flowing exhaust, don't waste your money on a K&N filter, just open up the cone area where it goes into the fender(plenty of videos on how to do it), and get a tuner with a 5 star tune. It's amazing how much they help. Lastly remove as much excess weight as you can.
