Since I bought the truck I have wanted to put steel bumpers on it. I have been looking around and mostly seeing them for the $1000 per bumper range. I came across a site tonight that has them for 500(rear) and 650(front). The place is called tactical armor group. Does anyone have any experience wit them? they look pretty solid but was just hoping to get some input on them first.

With that being said does anyone have anything good/bad to say about the products? I thought about making some but would rather buy prefab if the price is right. It would save me a lot of headache lol.

The options start adding up quickly. Mine ended up being $1010 including shipping to Cleveland.

They are great people to work with, the lead time is long, but then again each bumper is made to order.

One member had his bumper fall off, but that was the shop who installed it that messed up, not TAG. Only reason I bring it up is to make sure that if and when you have it installed, the bumper is securely welded in place.

TAG took awhile to send the product - and it's NOT 'bolt on'. Basically you'll bolt the bracket pieces to your truck, then weld the bumper to the in-place brackets. Mine was about $1100 shipped, if I recall.

And yes, get GOOD welds :)

I have a welder and I am decent with it, I do body work and went to school for my masters collision tech cert. I am hoping this is something I can manage but may still bring to a shop just to be on the safe side. I do not do this for my regular job.

you'd also need to consider cutting the plastic/front fascia. Might be required.

Wait... I've heard of a company called "blue lake offroad" that makes bumpers similar (if not the same) to T.A.G. Blue Lake has real trashy online reviews though, which actually stopped me from buying one...

TAG is/was Blue Lake. I bought from them because I found no alternatives for my model year.

I can't talk down on them because I have no experience with them. After hours of research, they seem like the ONLY guys that make bumpers for early model expys though. Due to a budget crunch; I couldn't afford to take the risk at the time. After seeing some good reviews on here though from people that actually have TAG bumpers, I think I might buy one :happy107: They look damn good too!!
