Take a listen and let me know if you can help me diagnose this sound. Reminds me a little of cans dragging on concrete. Seemed to mostly occur in 6th gear and sometimes in 10th. Sounded like it was coming from beneath the driver side floor. We took a long drive and it seemed to only happen in 2H; 4A it never happened once we recognized the issue. Went back to 2H and the problem came back immediately. Sound is most pronounced from 1-2 seconds.

Sounds like the IWE (vacuum actuated hubs) are partially Disengaged In 2H. They should be fully disengaged. This causes rubbing of the splines against each other.

There is a TSB and an updated check valve to correct this. But only applies to 2018!

Better get it checked before destroying the hubs.

Thanks for the quick responses. I'll go straight to the dealer on Monday (in 4A).

Almost a week later and we have an answer - hubs were fine, wiring harness was fine, transmission control module was not. Ordered, here Wednesday, and hopefully back in the truck Wednesday. Anyone else have a similar issue?

I need to take mine in for what I think are the hubs being partially engaged in 2wd. Just have to find the time.

Sure sounds like ours when the iwe valve hose assembly was failing. Did this maybe 6wks ago on 2018 xlt.

was helpful to me to diagnose.

Symptoms for us were that it only did it when lugging engine and would stop immediately if you let out of it.

Took all of 3min to replace.

I know this is an old thread but I think I have something similar. Your explanation of cans dragging on concrete is the sound I have and right under driver floorboard. When you had this happen were you able to duplicate the problem for the dealer?

Mine just seems to randomly make the noise. It will last 5-10 seconds and then may not happen again for awhile. Some days it never does it and some days 10 times.
