Years back when I managed Oreillys, then called Kragen auto parts, if we sold you a compressor, and you didn't purchase the receiver dryer with it, we always recommend them at purchase, and compressor failed, warranty would not be honored on compressor.

you can always click the ignore user button, ive never really cared for your posts either. I mean all anyone needs to do is see the way you spoke to jeff in the lounge section to get a good read LOL. Yes ive posted a lot in my own thread because this is one of the most infuriating projects I have ever done on a vehicle. Should have paid the mechanic on this one and would do it over that way 10 times over. I have been driving my other truck and working on this on the side for days and its gotten really old...not to mention my poor dad having to come to the rescue a few times I owe him some expensive dinners. Didn't realize how much of a PITA Fords system is compared to the GM's I worked on in the past, everything is hard to reach and I had to spend a lot of time hunting for tools and parts. Not to mention RockAuto sent me the wrong dryer, then so did napa and the dealer finally came through today, its been a friggin fiasco that I want to burry in the past....peace.

Geez. All I was saying was you've sure have had a hard time with all the problems with your truck. Glad you were able to get that off your chest though. I was rough on Jeff I agree. He was posting incorrect statements and then began attacking me. Was I supposed to just lay there and take it? I'm old enough now that when I see BS I call it BS.

As far as not liking my posts, you used to like them and you have pressed the LIKE button many times. I think you have a large amount of quality content so I would'nt claim to not have benefited or enjoyed your posts. Thank you for putting up quality information and trying to help people.

Guys we all get a little wound up, and either love or hate a poster here. We all hate to be corrected or second guessed. But that's what happens here! J, I would rather screw up 3 times on my own than pay most shops. Their all supposed to be professional, and do the job right the first time , but we know they don't. Years back when I wrenched full time, what I would have given to have a forum like this, to be able to be able to bang off other mechanics for info, would have been a godsend!

I guess I misread your post as an insult rather than how you meant it. That happens sometimes over typed text. No hard feelings just came in sweating, hot, and pissed when I typed that.

I wouldn’t really recommend doing this job but it would have been easier if I knew what I was going to have to do from the get go. If any do attempt this I have some info: The filter dryer for 07&08 units is a superseded part (the new one will not look like the one you pull out) I had to get this new part from my ford dealership.

One thing to note is you will be taking the front end of your truck off (bumper cover and grille, headlights, fan shroud, fan, radiator bracket, intake etc.... lots of bolts to keep track of. When you get all this off your filter dryer is bottom right of the condenser (it is a sock that slides up inside held in by a plastic filter and retaining ring) however the old one is a one piece plastic with media inside. it is a tamper proof star to get at it. Compressor is bottom left and a pain to get to but it’s doable, that is held in by 3 10mm bolts. You might as well replace your serpentine belt and tensioner while you are in there as well.

Not an easy job simply due to the amount of dismantling and reassembly as well as the location of the compressor. The guys at the dealership were a bit shocked at the filter dryer location but were helpful in the end. I’d recommend taking everything apart first then going after the compressor and dryer..... that’s how I’d do it over.

Went to pressure test today and filter dryer flung out. Used some magic to put new one in without taking truck apart again. Clip didn’t seat first time.

This may be a dumb question. I will be doing this exact thing here Ina few days. Is this sock like filter flexible at all? Or is the center rigid making it unbending? If it is a tad flexible it should fit in arround the frame below the opening for the filter.

I was looking at it earlier and was wondering. Can it be easier.. Wish full thinking I am sure.
