Picked up my new Max XLT 4x4 yesterday. I test drove a Platinum or Limited, so was surprised to see the cheap, black, plasticy dash. Not impressed, but I'm not paying another $8K or more to upgrade it. Would it have cost Ford much to do these things a bit nicer, or to at least use different colors when you have the Medium Stone interior? Crazy. Drives nicely, though, and the mileage looks to be better. Quiet and smooth, too, with 18" wheels and standard suspension. I've never seen wheel well liners like it, though, they're fuzzy and I wonder about durability when they get muddy. I guess it's for sound insulation?

I would have much rather taken an xlt with the cheaper interior and saved 8k but the xlt's are not available in the max form in Canada. As for the fuzzy wheel well liners, they hold up well. Ive had a few trucks with them and my trucks are not pavement princess's.

Cool. The liners are fastened very well. I'm used to hosing them out after a trip off road, seems like the fuzziness would complicate that. I agree about the difference in cost. Mine's not a soccer mom car, either.
